Thank's to all that replied. Last night she came in saying her and her friends want to hire a fire-engine to take them there because it will be different!!!!
How much money does she think we have. Ticket to buy £50 school want to hold it in posh hotel (same one the england football team stay in before they play) then dress, shoes, hair. Also says I may as well get a fake tan and my nails done. When I left senior school we had a disco at school which the teachers put on.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask her to help meet some of the costs. You should inform her of your total budget and if she wants more she pays the difference.

Re nails if she can grow her own you could paint white tips for her or get them done in a salon for about £10. One of my nieces does DD for her and they look as good as the salon. You can pick up stick on diamonds very cheap to glam them up for the night.

Tell her she has to pay for the nails and tan and see how quickly that idea changes :p Our friend group decided we wanted a limo and all paid from our own money, certainly didn't expect parents to pay for it.
