They are about the same. Have you taken into consideration that the discounts are higher. The real point is that if V13 is supposed to incorporate the 9% electricity reduction, we are all being shafted - cos it doesn't!

    v12

Gas: 6.367p for the first 670 kWh per quarter, and 3.469p thereafter
Electricity: 26.618p for the first 225 kWh per quarter, and 10.038p thereafter
Discount: Dual fuel direct debit customers receive a discount of 8% off their total annual bill. EnergyOnline Extra Saver 12 customers receive an additional discount of 7.5% off their total annual bill for managing their account online. The total discount is 15.5% off the total annual bill.

    v13

Gas: 6.530p for the first 670 kWh per quarter, and 3.557p thereafter
Electricity: 25.064p for the first 225 kWh per quarter, and 9.450p thereafter
Discount: Dual fuel direct debit customers receive a discount of 8% off their total annual bill. EnergyOnline Extra Saver 13 customers receive an additional discount of 4.7% off their total annual bill for managing their account online. The total discount is 12.7% off the total annual bill.

So, the electricity is cheaper in v13 BUT the gas is more expensive! The discount is lower in v13 too. Overall, for my annual usage, v13 is 2% more expensive.

If that's the case Kneale, it's not worth you changing to V13. The Eon rep says on AVERAGE by moving to V13 there are electricity savings of 9%. Would anyone who is anywhere near saving 9% on their electricity, please post here.

    Hi guys

1carminestocky we have to bring out new versions of the tariffs as the discount has an end date. Once we near the end date a new version is launched.

As I have said before, I am here to give general customer service advice and to try and help our customers.

As you can imagine I don't have any control over commercial business decisions and won't justify or criticise the way E.ON pricing structure works.

I do understand that price changes can be a confusing time for everyone and there will always be questions around pricing structures. Whilst I'll try to answer any questions you have, I may not always have the answer that you are looking for. These are commercial decisions after all.

Geoffo M, I posted that the 9% decrease was an average reduction for an average house, this is not the difference between the versions of one particular tariff, but the average decrease announced for all the products that are decreasing.

I hope all this makes sense.

I am here to help :)

So, that surely means, by inference, that there must be punters who will save in excess of 9%? Anyone?

I understand that it is the average decrease for all the products that are decreasing. As all the V13 tariffs are nowhere near the 9%, there must be plenty of other Eon tariffs that are way above 9%. Could you please list a couple of them. Sorry if I sound distrusting - but I am.

Those who were paying a 268% premium for Tier 1 units now save by paying a 250% premium on Tier 1 units?

Its not confusing at all. You as in Eon enjoy the headlines splashed across the press of a 9% cut in electricity prices, then its your choice to implement said cut in such a way as to deliberately confuse your customers. Unfortunately for you, a few Eon customers on MSE actually work out their bills and can apply any price cut, therefore lay bear the blatant deceit of a 9% cut. The mythical 'average' customer is trotted out as oh so easy explanation.

If you are here to help and are unable to offer a company wide policy explanation, can I suggest that you ask a relevant senior manager to answer questions regarding your wider pricing strategy? Its all well and good answering simple questions when you have to shrug your shoulders when reasonable questions are raised re. Eon's confusing (deliberately misleading?) tarrif structure.

    1. Is the discount perishable goods?

    2. Simple. Get one of the head honchos from the Ivory Tower and get him/her to do his/her own dirty work on here.

For me in Cardiff i have gone from:
    - 27.9195 first 900
    - 11.823 for rest

    to
    - 24.234 first 900
    - 10.2585 for rest

Which if i use 3,400kWh/year gives me a unit price of: 0.1396, and it was 0.1608. This equates to a 13% reduction... It's better than most i assume, but my electricity is still horrendously expensive compared to a lot of people. The joys of living in Wales!

Any of the tariffs that are reducing could reduce by 9% but this depends on the customer’s usage. Because the reductions in the primary units are higher than that in the secondary units it means that lower users will see a greater percentage reduction.

When price increases and decreases are announced, we are obliged as part of our regulations to release this information through the press. We also have to release the average reduction or increase based on OFGEM’s average consumptions.

This does mean that some customers like supreme will see a higher reduction and others will see less than the announced average 9%.
