I am on Energy Saver v12 and, according to energyhelpline.com, v13 is more expensive...

They are about the same. Have you taken into consideration that the discounts are higher. The real point is that if V13 is supposed to incorporate the 9% electricity reduction, we are all being shafted - cos it doesn't!

    Hi,

Just wanted to clarify a few points.

The EnergyOnline Extra Saver Version 13 prices offer a Standing charge and No standing charge.

The discount does vary by region and is a percentage discount off the charges on each bill.

This new product has taken in to account our price decrease.

    Hope this helps.

How can you say that. I am on V8 and V13 is about 2% less. Those on V12 will find that the V13 unit rates are slightly HIGHER, although this is offset by the better online discount. Where is the 9% that was announced. It looks a bit shady to me!

Can you answer this specific points please....

Your rep I rang specifically told me that v13 didn't include the price cut. Obviously you needs to keep folk in your loop......

My primary electric unit has dropped from 26.4075 to 22.1865, very nice, roughly 18%. Though my secondary unit price has only dropped from 10.8255 to 10.71, which is a 1% drop.

Now Im going to save 18% on my first 900 kWhs, which is a capped reduction is it not? Then only 1% on my secondary rate thereafter. Im not happy, why have you loaded this apparent price cut in such way?

Clearly on the (no doubt correct) assumption that the vast majority of their customers are not anywhere near as savvy as you? This is the sort of sneaky, underhand tactic that makes me so resentful of how the energy industry, since de-nationalision, has been allowed to get away with.

I want specific answers from an Eon rep, not some company flannel read from a script. So dont try and include any increased discount as this should not be a factor in the announced 9% price cut.

Unless I get a satisfactory answers Im going to leave Eon to another utility company. Where is the rationale 'we play fare with you, be honest with us'.

But how can anyone tell? Since, contrary to previous information given by representatives, the details of the tariff is not available on their site even if you go through the rigmarole of offering your true name and your first-born.

Once more, why are E-on so secretive about their tariffs?

If you are a high user you already have a cheap tariff. For the majority of customers, there is an enormous contribution from the Tier 1 units to their bill. This is a consequence of wildly varying tariff structures. A similar problem happened with nPower a few price changes ago - their Tier 2 units were so low that when they readjusted to be more in line with others there was an outcry when energy-guzzling customers saw their costs more than double. It's annoying for customers with electric heating but most tariffs' pricing structure is targeted at dual supply customers.

Edit: If it makes you feel any better, if I were with them they could be charging me more than 45p per kWh of electricity!

Does it include details of the discounts? I only ever get through to pages with unit prices and discounts that are based on a specific consumption - I have never seen details of how the discounts are calculated.
