I know that prices changes can be confusing.

The announced 9% reduction is an average for the average customer, this will differ due to the fact that everyone’s usage is different.

Because of this some customers will get more than 9% reduction and some less.

jimexbox as you will not use any more than 900kWh for your primary rates, in effect your 18% reduction that you mention will not exceed this.

Does it include details of the discounts? I only ever get through to pages with unit prices and discounts that are based on a specific consumption - I have never seen details of how the discounts are calculated.

You have to ring them up, which I did. I too find it odd that they can give you your tarrif which varies region to region, though for some inexplicable reason they cannot list your discount. The reason they give...it varies region to region.

I'm currently on V11 and have looked online to switch to version 13. It says the charges are exactly the same:

Normal units up to 900 kWhs
    22.7325 pence

    Normal units
    9.849 pence per kWh

I'm sure it was more than this, have they reduced the v11 to the same as v13? Am I better off just staying on V11?

I'm a fairly low user (about 3.5 units per day). Would I be better off with ebico or do EON's discounts make them better?

Yes, that's my point. The large discount is capped, would you agree with assessment? So I could then use £1000, £2000, ad infinitum of secondary units and only recieve a 1% reduction.

I am, just thought I'd lock in the best rate until I move again...

Also, it's getting harder, if I move back to Scottish Power, I'm stuck with them until the new year and they are offering the best cashback. The other option is British Gas but they still owe me money from last time I was with them!

British Gas is only offering £20 cashback at the moment, hardly worth the effort!

Actually, you twisted my arm

I just switched back to Scottish Power on their slightly more expensive product but I'm not tied in! It's the summer coming up anyway so it'll not matter much anyway. Maybe move back to EON once I've completed move to Scottish Power. This will be my 5th provider since September.

    Hooray, it's tracked!

This is rubbish. Why can't you be straightforward and reduce all the unit rates by 9%. I don't believe for a minute that anyone is getting more than a 9% reduction. We have already established that V12 is identical and V8 only 2%. I strongly believe that only a few people might benefit and these 9% reduction headlines are just a smokescreen.

Why bring out V13 at all? Even if this was 9% less on electric, only those who switched tariffs would benefit. You are relying on people's ignorance in not knowing they have to switch to benefit. It stinks. The sooner the whole industry is referred to the Competition Commission the better!

I know I keep banging about this but this wholly dodgy practice of continally supeceding online tariffs would have been stopped ages ago by a regulator who had the consumer's interests at heart.

Whilst we have the official rep on the board, can we get a definitive answer as to why (from the company's perspective) there is such a need to continually supercede a perfectly-functioning online tariff with a new incarnation?
