Thanks for the coleslaw explanation...it sounds awful and hope it didnt make you ill.

You need to venture onto the freebies board as there is something there about joining Waitrose's panel where you can get freebies - tonight for tea I am having free spinach & ricotta ravioli with tomato & chilli sauce (all free) I havent been with them long and this is the first thing I have had.

Enjoy your jobs - I have done a few things this morning and forgot to post something so I shall have to wander off to the postbox later (can't be bothered to go out at the mo as it looks like rain:rolleyes:).

Thanks for that tip Horace - you are fab :A:T

I've now signed up & cant believe I missed that one, Waitrose is one of my fave places in the whole world :D

I've done my Tatco shop & managed to spend £30.67 in there of which £9.60 was on household & toiletries. Rather than limit myself to a mere £30 a week & then beat myself up for going over which I did without fail every week , I now allow myself £50 a week but this has to include all cleaning & toiletries too. I've managed to psychologically outmanoeuvre myself & am now happy if I have change left over from the £50 :rotfl:which goes towards treats & entertainment eg trips to cinema or ice creams or shoes.

I was so busy mulling over the CC business that I completely forgot to go into the M&S sale :o I did however remeber to put £20 of fuel in the car :D which is fortunate as it's going for it's '25 point free check & lets make sure the bonnet doesnt fly up & we'll clean it for you too because we're actually quite nice now that we've been on Watchdog' deal on saturday.Bogger the checks, I'm happy they're cleaning it :D

I decided to try bartering with Barclaycard which was most amusing, they wouldnt budge on the interest rate even when I said I was going to balance transfer until the guy asked what I would then do with the account ... I said "close it obviously , that interest rate is shameful" at which point he immediately transferred me to another person in the 'Oh !!!!!! we're about to lose another customer because we're greedy barstewards department' ...

Nice lady first said she could only drop the rate to 22.9 % then remarked on my excellent payment history & said she could go to 18.9% & thank you for staying with us. NB I didnt say I would stay, merely could they match the other offer ;)

I'm still going to forge ahead with the Co operative CC & just hope that they will increase the offer to £3,000 & will then transfer the Barclaycard balance but keep the account open.

There are many here who vow to never have a credit card again, I am not one of them. I have learnt my lesson & my aim has always been to pay off the current debts & retain one card for emergency or large purchases, just with a lower interest rate.

Frankly I'm pleased that I still have some bargaining power & options & that my business is considered worth having. Although it may seem daft, I like the security of having a reasonable amount of credit available & probably always will

Must now get on with all those chores ...

    Negotiatrix Lula... yay1.gif

I'm glad you explained the credit card thing, as I thought I'd lost the plot, but you'd moved on. That's a fine piece of negotiation; whatever happens now, you're already ahead.

And thanks to Horace for the Waitrose info - yum. :j There is one rather too near me, but I haven't been for ages...perhaps at the start of June? :o

One rail of my dressing room purge is complete - 19 eBay items found, although some need to wait for a more lucrative winter market. Now to ferret amongst the dresses and coats of the back rail. So far I've found a rather natty Wallis mac that I'd completely forgotten, and my positively Frankley Rubery* Wallis coat.

    * Horace will know that this refers to the motorway sign for Frankley and Rubery to the south of Birmingham. However it also describes very well the texture of the coat. ;)

Does she? I don't recall seeing that motorway sign, one thing that I have noticed in Rubery is lots of pink or white tracksuits and I never venture as far as Frankley because of its reputation and I am scared that I will never get out of there alive:eek:

I also like Waitrose and my nearest one is in Droitwich although I have heard a rumour that there is also one in Harborne (a bit of pain to get to).

Lula - you need to go to the freebies board more often, they have things like cath kitson patterns, free food etc etc.

    Morning all :D

Thanks for my new 'Negotiatrix' title  Hollyberry, not to be confused with another word ending in ..trix :D I confess to beng rather pleased about that & thanks for pointing out that it is actually a win win situation even if I dont get the new card. I'll be so glad when all this debt busting is over & done with it; it is so time consuming both physically & mentally :o

Well done on your wardrobe clearance :j, I've been hunting for the perfect little mac for years but have never found one that doesnt make my look 10 x larger than I am . The trouble with being 'blessed' above the waist is that one has to dress very carefully

By the way I do love your fab array of smilies, one for every occasion ... rather like the s.a.i.d. shoe collection I think :rotfl:

I did send off the CC application form while on a bike ride with DD ( those thighs will be trimmed )

I also managed to cut the grass too :A

Todays Deeds to be Done :

    - [STRIKE]Hoover living room & bedrooms [/STRIKE] Done :D

  • Hi Lula,

You've got a very good and achieveable list there hun, care for a bit off mine too???

You're doing well with the debtbusting and fingers crossed for you with the c.c.

I tried to book my slot for the car boot fair at school but they've cancelled it due to lack of interest. Most disgruntled about it as I had lots to flog, going to have to hunt around for a local one me thinks.

Thanks for your kind words on my thread hun.

    xx

    Hi Tea hon,

kind words always available for my 'county mate' :D

Also should confess that I nicked the idea for doing a Deeds List from your thread :o it really does work so :T

What a shame about the boot sale :( I could probably fill my boot twice over with stuff but tend to gather a pile of stuff together, then get fed up with it cluttering up my room & take it to the charity shop instead

I started clearing out my room & my theory that having all the clothes I can wear on a rail & the ones I cant in the wardrobe would annoy me,has been proved correct . I really hate clutter & it is driving me maaaaaaaad

Have just had my 2nd bowl of special K & had to sieve the dust at the bottom of the bag. As from tomorrow I'll be on the tatco version which is half the price

I've finally got around to moving all the hamster equipment from its 'place' behind the sofa. ( I know, hamster departed back in August last year so only taken me 8 months then :o)

Still trying to work out a date to do the floor in the living room & have decided the week end when DD is on Brownie trip the best time. Ideally I should be taking that opportunity to be whizzing off on one of sarahb's european city breaks with handsome wealthy charming Johnny Deppalike ... but no, I shall be on my hands & knees with sander in one hand & paint brush in the other fetchingly dressed in paint splattered old trackie pants ... :rotfl:

Right, must get on with ctaching up on thread subscriptions now ....

    Lula xx

Gosh, nearly a week gone by since my last update :o

I havent had much moneysaving to report as I've not paid any more off the CCs & not been to the allotment & only managed one more NSD

The last 2 days have been spent just working & I've been lucky that DD has been out with friends.

I'm all nervous & jangly at the moment as DD1 coming on saturday & I really dont know how it's going to work. She does shifts, I work from home & little DD is not being very enthusiastic about sharing her pigsty. She's still in bed as she knows that today is the day she has to tidy & clear it out.

I have however, paid for my car tax :j

The car had its check up on saturday & I while it was beng done I managed to buy myself a new dress & a brilliant gardening book ( my first ever one) from a charity shop - total spend £ 6.98 :D

The garage put a new bonnet mechanism on the car,did the 25 point safety check & told me that the 2 rear tyres are cracking, 2 of the anti roll bar thingy s are splitting  I have no rear wiper blade & the cam belt is due :( they did however, clean it beautifully both inside & out :j

I bought a new wiper thingy & am pretty sure that the dealer changed the cam belt during the service when I, er I mean Dad, bought the car but cant find any paperwork to support this . The mot is due end of July & guess who has completely omitted to budget for this as I thought it would just sail through an mot with no extra expense needed ....

There are about 25 million things on my to do list but I just cant settle to doing anything at the moment. Also waiting with bated breath to see about the credit card aplication ... if it all goes a bit wrong at the mot I may need to use it :o

Right, going to try to keep busy while waiting for awesomely hideous work load to arrive, just thinking of the money, thinking of the money, thinking of the money ...

    bye for now
  • Hi Lula,

Well I'm glad those 2 weeks are now over :j

I'm fine thanks Purpletea, just been frantically busy.

DD1 arrived safely with all her worldly possessions which are now scattered about the home & garage. She's on holiday this week so it's quite calm again here :)

There havent been any major financial changes since my last post & I kind of lost my way last week as I couldnt get near the pc  due to work overdose & both DDs completely forgetting that I may want to use it now & then

Cant remember when I last had a NSD :o have lost the plot with the grocery shopping :o:o & I didnt write anything in my paper spending diary :o:o:o

Thursday was an inset day so DD & I headed off to Chessington for the day which even with a bogof voucher ( thankyou Tatco)cost £45 what with food etc. We had a good day though & I've now decided that I want a large pond big enough to fit sealions in :D

I also took DD & bessfriend to the cinema to see Coraline the week before so am hoping to not spend any more on going out until the end of the month.

10 weeks today until our holiday & the spending funds are very depleted. Really I need to be saving £30 a week from now on  which is about the same amount I overpay CC1 ... so I need to make a decision fast

I did get the 0% card but only with a £1200 limit so I cant balance transfer :( I'm tempted to transer £1000 but fear that having to make 2 separate payments on the 1 card could confuse me so I'm not going to bother. I was very tempted to just use the 0% card for some purchases eg a new sofa or wardrobes or some botox :o but knowing that my car needs a new cambelt & service & mot at the end of July, has regined me in, so if necessary I'll use the card for that - could be about £600 all in

All the other funds are looking quite healthy & I've now got £32 saved in £2 coins & for those that remember it, I can assure you that the crispy £50 is still safely tucked in my passport :D

It's late & my brain is slowing down so ...

    bye for now
    lula
