That's a bargain for the Rocket Dogs, Lula. Well done you! :j

Clearly your standards of hospitality are good, but DD1 will need to remember that although you may end up the same clothes size, she'll never manage the shoes. ;)

I'm with you on the spending at the moment. I am blaming it on the giddy excitement of being a bit smaller, meaning that I had to treat myself to some new undies. The top half was rattling, and the bottom half - well, suffice to say that by the time I had been round Waitrose, hitching away at them through my pockets, only my trousers were saving me from flashing my nethers at the passing crowds, and the boy shorts were about half way down my thighs. :rotfl::rotfl:And I have been thinking about my holiday, and buying lots of pretties to wear... :o In short, I have been a bad Berry......although one that is currently still within budget. I now have £40 in my purse until Wednesday, so will have to be good. ;)

The rain here has made the salad very over-excited, so I have loads. However, at some point I need to brave the quagmire to go and dig up some potatoes. Anyone for mud pies? ;)

    Hello,

I dont have any money saving news to report as I havent done any & there wont be any payments made this week either :o

Hey ho, I suspected that once the sun came out & the weight started to come off it would go this way

HollyBadBerry :D - there should be no more rattling, it's most unseemly so take that £40 & enjoy .... or was that meant to be for tartes aux citron  eithere way - have fun ;)

I feel like I've spent most of yesterday & today doing washing - will it never end :( but DD1 assures me that it's all over now. Once the nerves wore off I have enjoyed her being here but am starting to think about a good clear out & finally doing the floor stripping  I have managed to utilise her photo uploading talents to get a pic of me on the fishing site ... but am under stric instructions not go off meeting anyone that looks even slightly suspect :D I've made it clear that I have no intention of meeting anyone at all in the near future. My profile states very clearly that I'm looking for friends only & anyone ( yes, there have been a couple ) suggesting anything else or meeting has been filed in the ignore bin :rotfl:

Other than that we went to the allotment this morning for spot of weeding & harvesting of fresh crisp lettuce :j. DD1 insisted we pull a carrot to see if they're ready yet but they're all show on top & nothing but a spindly rooty bit under the earth, so need a few weeks yet. I get so impatient waiting for things to grow :o

We went to the school fair this afternoon & I only spent £3 on some tombola tickets :j.

This evening we went for a bike ride along the canal which was lovely & cool. It's so muggy here & we desperately need rain to clear the air & water the ground.

It's now 7 weeks until our holiday so I'm going to keep up the sensible eating & need to increase the exercise to tone up a bit. I realised today that my big pink exercise ball hasnt got in the way for a while ... it's under the table & decidedly smaller now that a drawing pin is stuck in it

Gosh it's late  must get to bed so

    bye for now

    lula
    xx

I took the £40 and another £60 besides, but have decided to just enjoy it and take my own advice about an occasional treat being good. Hmmm - will be passing the source of tartes au citron later, so you never know. ;)

Drawing pin? Aww Lula. Not sure to commiserate, or to be amused that someone clearly doesn't want you to worry about exercising.

Looking forward to the hols is half the fun, isn't it? Two weeks today, we'll be in France. :D  Where are you going?

    Hi Hollyberry,,

glad to see that you're well versed in Sarahs Self Gifting Law :D

I am looking forward to the hol, but still a bit concerned about spending money :( I have no idea how much we will need but for the 2 of us self catering I'm aiming to take about £500 :confused:we're going to Portugal as I have a lovely relative with an apartment there & my lovely Grandmother gifted us the flights. Otherwise it would be camping in cornwall again . It will probably be the only 'away' holiday until debt free & you also know my feelings on air travel so I will make the most of it :D

DD1 would love to go to EuroDisney & as it's close & you can get there by train I may see if deal can be had for next year ... followed by the usual camping trip I expect. If I had a camper I would be quite happy to just go off in that for weekends & hols. I love the idea of throwing everything in the back & just heading off somewhere ... * wanders off to yearn at ebay & update profile on fishing site * 'must have camper van' :rotfl:
  • Hi Lula,

Now that things have settled down a bit this end since the latter part of last week I thought I would catch up with your diary.

You have been a busy bee...I've got some carrott seeds here, somewhere under all the clutter, that you are more than welcome to have. They were a freebee but I'm not going to get chance to use them. If you want them, p.m me your addy and I'll pop them in the post to you.

Horace - DH had a vitrectomy, peel and oil change on Thursday. Third op he's had done with at least another one to go.

    Catch up later,

    Tea

    It certainly does,

hope it went well & that you survived the party ok :D

will pm you later thanks :A My mailbox is currently under siege from what feels like the entire single male population of the south of england... this 'fishing' is actually more fun than real life clothes shopping. I might just have found a hobby that doesnt cost anything :rotfl:
  • He's not too pleased about it, he's more annoyed about the fact that he's having to have so many drops in his eye and having to take painkillers every day...fingers crossed nothing else will happen now and he can have his next op in 6 weeks and everything will be fine again.

Tea - the Vitrectomy sounds cack and I don't envy your OH having to take loads of drops as that will be me in a couple of weeks in fact I must remember that I need to up my intake of steroid drops about a week before my op. So one eye will have 6 drops a day whilst the right eye only one per day:rolleyes:

Saturday, I ended up buying some cheapo linen cropped trousers and a skirt so that I can at least stay cool. This humidity is killing me and I am virtually brain dead:rolleyes: I meant to stop off at the hardware shop on my way back from the post office to see if they had any metal shelving (useful for office space) but I was so dopey I crossed the road and walked home without stopping by the shop:rolleyes: I had to post a lovely One is Fun cookbook to Numpty as I managed to get one at the charity shop.

Yesterday I went to Kings Norton, mainly to go to the wedding fair that I had aseen advertised. I filled up my car with petrol for the first time in two months (blimey, hasnt it gone up:rolleyes:) got a newspaper which I read in the car whilst waiting for the fair to open. Had a bit of a wander and then tried out the caff on site and ended up spending £5.50 (but I get loads). Then I headed off to see my parents. Aren't mothers great:rolleyes: now I need to go on a diet as my mum asked me if I was pregnant:eek: it would be a bloomin miracle if I was:eek: but I came away with some freshly dug spuds and a large george foreman grill (too large for me but it was going spare and I was taught never to refuse stuff that is offered to me which is why I am rotund as its all that cake and chocolate:eek:). I was also pointed in the direction of a box containing their wills - I resisted the temptation to go and look:rotfl: Mum and I discussed Dad as he is getting worse and now his kidneys are packing up (smokers out there - take this as a lesson, you carry on smoking and you will end up like my dad with congestive heart failure which is incurable). To be honest I am surprised that he has lasted this long because 3 years' ago we were told that he wouldn't survive until winter and yet he is still here:D Mind you, I think that is also due to me because I avoid them when I am ill or if I have been near people who are ill.

Had a couple of nice surprises today too - I rang the Post Office to say that I had changed my address and received a discount on my insurance and then they said that I could add business use on top and now my insurance will cost me £236.48 a year - I have now cancelled the business insurance that I had asked for (as from 20 July) as the firm were going to charge me £371:eek: The second nice surprise was a further £50 of capital bonds from More Than Business thanking me for my custom (now I was wondering if they had made a mistake because they sent me some bonds back in May after I complained that I had never received any after I took out the insurance in January), but the letter is dated 28 June so I am thinking that its a nice surprise.:D

Forgot to say that I gave my mum £30 for some handmade cards - I told her that I had sold them but I sold them to me so I have a nice stock of cards (she doesnt know that I sold them to me). She can use the money to buy more craft stuff or spend it on herself.
