    Righty :

Online banking checked & quidco cash has been paid so Lula is going Bootsing tomorrow to stock up with beautification equipment :j

Beds have been stripped, aired & now remade :D

Bedlinen has been washed & is now on the line :D

Bathroom is now clean & sparkling :D

All floors have been washed :D

Carpets have been sweepered but I broke it :o so may have to invest in a new one

Errr ... mirrors & easy to dust surfaces have been polished but I didnt want to stir up a coughing fit so moved very stealthily ;)

I've just had a yummy coffee & tiny restorative hobnob :shhh: to brace myself for the torture ride this afternoon :(

I'm having a NSD & the new & hopefully temporary gas card arrived so I will top that up tomorrow on my way back from Boots .

I really want to get on with the floor redecorating/ painting but now realise that most of the furniture I have has been strategically placed around the living room to hid the various 'defects' in the carpet  . this means I probably have twice as much as I need in here which is great ... apart from having to actually sort through the piles of stuff in, under, above & around it :(

That is my plan for the week end as well as cleaning the outside windows on the back of the house & making some name sticks for the allotment & also making a start on clearing out my room  this involves actually putting the 2 boxes worth of photos into the albums I bought years ago & chucking out the rest & filling up yet more bags for the charity shop

that lot should keep me so busy that I dont even notice that the site is closed :(

Hurrah! I'm so glad I found the new thread.

I've just read through it while watching NCIS - hows about that for multi-tasking!!

Thanks for the book rec's - while on my hols I read the following:

When will there be good news? - Kate Atkinson - brilliant and gripping, I really enjoyed it, a bit of a mystery novel with lots of twists and turns and sometimes a bit funny.

The War of Don Emmanuels Nether Parts - Louis de Bernieres - a crazy tale set in a non-identified South American country, a bit rambling and sometimes hard to read but really inventive and very clever and very funny. Although a bit depressing when you realise is based on real events!

The suspicions of Mr Whicher or the Murder at Road Hill House - Kate Summerscale - book about a real life murder in 1860's in Wiltshire and the one of the first cases investigated by detectives. Really interesting look at life in mid-Victorian times and shows the real social changes that have occurred since then. I don't normally like true-story stuff and bought the book thinking it was fiction but this was very good.

Good luck with the job search. I read a really good book ages ago and I found it really helpful. It is American but don't let that put you off. It is csalled What Colour is your Parachute. It is for people who are searching for a career or career change.

And I would agree with everyone, experience is what counts and often you can twist your experience to suit the job.

I am really happy in my current job and I got here through twists and turns that you could never have worked out. But the whole thing started with a temp job that I got through Reed. I wouldn't write off jobs if they aren't exactly what you want as sometimes you get good skills which you can use ot get another job. Often 6 months is enough time to get something for the CV.

Anyway I'm battling against the 10pm deadline here so will sign off!!!!
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

    Hello,

A satisfying week end in many ways, although frustrating in others.

I didnt go to Boots on saturday I was too busy gardening & bike ridin & eating things I really shouldnt have. We went out on the bikes for 3 hours  all along the canal which was lovely but even DD remarked that she hurt in places that she really shouldnt . I dont rmember there being this much pain last year so can only assume that we're out of practice . I also suffered the shame off DD commenting that my rear tyre looked flat ... it wasnt, I'm just fat :o. I also made a start on sorting through the photos but although i'm convinced they were all in chronological bundles ... they no longer appear to be . I realised that w albums wasnt really going to contain them all even if I'm ruthless so put them all back in the box & will continue to gather bargainous albums & have another go when I have a whole day to devote to the task.

Sunday we went to the allotment in the morning, both my fellow allotmenteers were there & came up with some other ideas on new careers. One suggestion is to volunteer for an organization / charity that I'm interested in for a few hours a week as apparently this often leads to job offers or potential contacts & connections. I also need to find the book that makeup recommended. Although I admit that I do need to upgrade my pc skills somewhat, the though of being stuck in one place fills me with dread so I do need to keep that in mind. One of my friends said they really couldnt see me being happy stuck in a library while the sun is shining which did give me food for thought

Anyway, we have planted our potatoes & I managed to scavenge some strawberry plants & raspberry canes & a rhubarb plant that someone had put on the compost heap . The afternoon was spent digging a new bed for the new plants & realising that the compost bin has actually produced some lovely rich compost. I've also been given some hollyhock seeds but am so scared of them disappearing that I'm going to sow them in seed trays indoors for now.

I'm really loving my garden now but not the fact that I have to move the stone circle as now I realise that it's in the wrong place .

Still havent bought new a new hoover so we're now on the very old style method of dustpan & brush :rotfl:.

DD has bought herself an ipod & it took all my brain power ( & 2 bowls of ice cream :o) to work out how to set it up on the pc but that was all worth it when DD emerged from the bathroom stating that "ipods make weeing fun" :D

I managed a NSD yesterday but today I spent another £13 on groceries - mainly salad type stuff though ;) & today did the usual £50 payment off cc1 - now £ 3,886 & £25 off cc2 - now £ 2,838 & have updated my sig to reflect this although interest will soon be piled on again .

Still no weight loss ...must try harder, must stop eating anything with sugar in it :o

    bye for now

Oh, I just love this series of books, they are fab:j Read it in one go on the day it came out. Have you read the others?

Just finished this, I really enjoyed it, but the first half was much better, the research was amazing.

Also can I recommend Gargoyles, not sure if I have mentioned it before. It is funny, intelligent, modern, medieval (sp) romantic, sad, uplifting, moving. Just fantastic.

:mad::mad: I bought one last year and the stress and horror of tyrying to sort it all out nearly killed me and will stay with me forever. Had to just leave it as was feeling murderous.:mad::mad:

Howver, somehow (without my assistance, understanding or comprehension) it loaded itself and now my ipod is one of my favourite things, it means I can download things I have missed on the radio and listen to them in bed when I am trying to get to sleep or when I am doing houseworky type things. Just wish I had got the pink one;)
