I ran the LSPFIX. No problems were found.

I did a windows update. Would that update the driver?

None of the disks that came with the computer mention anything specific about drivers.

Funny thing is: when I unplug the ethernet cable from the modem, all the lights on the homeplugs are on and stable, except the ethernet indicator on the home plug that connects into the modem. When I DO connect it to the modem, thats when all the indicator lights start flashing like a christmas tree!

Id give badooshes idea a go. Turn the computer AND the modem off
Turn the modem on (With ONLY the ethernet cable connected)
    Then the computer on

(No ~ a normal windows update will NOT update hardware drivers)

Lorian: No indicator lights that I can see!

The modem is a Webstar DPX 100

Well blow me. IT WORKED! I'm now online connected only by the ethernet cable. Guess I connect it all up and try again? How exciting!

Have you tried them both downstairs next to one another to check they actually work as they should

Yes thats how I have them setup. I suspect we're coming to the end of the line here. I think the next step is to contact the company to see about a refund!

It would be cheaper to buy an actual wireless router anyways

    Try switching everything off

    Switch on both homeplugs

    Then the modem

    Then your computer

If that doesnt work then im out of ideas

I got it working. Thought I'd try it upstairs one last time and .......... 'Houston we have lift off'. The indicator lights are still flashing wildly, but, the system is operational.

Can't run the downstairs computer online at the sametime as up here as when both the ethernet and USB are connected on the modem it defaults to the USB. However, I can now switch between the two.

    Thanks to AlienRik et al.
