....... Can't seem to get these things to work. I have them connected properly. However when I perform a scan the software only detects a single device. Consequently I can't get an internet connection. I've tried phoning the company I bought them from, but I just get an answer machine. Can anyone help?

You shouldnt need to run any scans. Software isnt needed
They simply plug one into the router and one or more into whatever devices your using
How are they connected?
The only problem ive had personally is I originally tried to connect through a 'mains conditioner', and it simply wasnt having that. Works fine through a normal cheapie mains extension though:idea:0 -
They came with a disk so I uploaded it. It says it can detect only one of the homeplug devices. Anyway, if what you say is correct ie it doe's not require any software then watever it detects should be irrelevant.
Could it be an issue with my settings, firewall or something?0 -
How many homeplugs do you have?
What are they plugged into and whats plugged into them?
What exactly are you tying to connect?
Homeplugs are basically to do away with ethernet cables. HOWEVER ~ on the underside of them is a MAC code. So if your routers set to only work with certain MAC hardware, youll have to allow the ones on the plugs.:idea:0 -
Ok I'm on Virgin b/b. I have an ethernet cable from the router connected to Homeplug (a) connected to a mains socket downstairs. Upstairs I have a laptop connected to Homeplug (b) via an ethernet into the mains. You've got me on the MAC codes, I havent a clue.0

ok
the ones I have, have 3 lights on them. Once working as they should ~ all 3 lights are lit. Are yours the same? If not, what is and isnt lit?
I assume when you try to open a browser its just a blank page yes?
Whats your make and model of router?:idea:0 -
Just a thing to consider, does your house have more than one earth? If it does, it's quite possible that the two plugs aren't actually connected to each other!Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

The power and data lights are on downstairs, the ethernet light is flashing intermitedly. Upstairs both ehtrenet and data are flashing.
Yes it is a blank page. Router is 'Scientific Atlanta' embossed on it, aind the word 'WebSTAR' written down one side.0 -
As tim says ~ try plugging in downstairs instead (To check if it does work plugged in elsewhere):idea:0

Tried downstairs. Didn't make any difference. The homeplug connected to the router had a flashing ethernet light. The computer end had both flashing ethernet and data.0
