    Hi rik

whatever combofix has done it seems to have solved the problem. Ebay is now working as it did before!

fingers crossed that it will last this time

thanks very much for your help, would still be interested to know what was causing the problem, also is there any way of removing the remnents of those peer to peer programs (ares vista\destiny and bearshare)

    thanks

    sorry false alarm!

upon restarting my laptop the problem has returned :mad::mad:

I tried toggling the browsers setting I.E as default and vice versa but no luck.

    Run DR WEB
    http://www.freedrweb.com/
It will auto scan on a QUICK scan. After that select a FULL scan (Itll prob take a few hours)

i dont think this is virus or mal or spyware related. Ive trawled the internet but can seem to find any other similar problems..a few specificaly relating to firefox and certain add ons but my problem seems to be with both firefox and I.E.

I can only think that it is something on startup that is effecting the browser settings but i have very little installed on this pc and all of the start up entrys are legitamite processes. It has only been in the last few weeks that this has happened and nothing new has been installed in that time.
