  • Cornflakes-Read your review and you seem to know what your talking about..LOL. Recently got rid of sun deck player, now looking for decent divx/xvid player, would also like it to play DVD audio (mp3 etc). USB would be a nice extra. Can you recommend any under £50?

    THanks

  • Anyone actually got this player yet?
Are the menus responsive... Does it seem to play most stuff?
  • i got this player late last year, i can only compare it to my KISS DP1000, i have no bad points about this player at all, its light it plays anything i through at it (except P.Bitstream but just grab a copy of mpeg4modifer to fix that)

Reads any media at all i havent found a cd or dvd that it hasnt wanted to play, the usb port works as well ! played a few Xvid's from that, the only thing you have to watch for is that it appears to be USB v1.0 as such you may find the film stutters if its high bitrate.

The only bad thing is the menu system, the fonts are too large you can only see the first 8 or so char's of the filename off the disc a bit anoying when you have a DVD with 20 or so episodes on it (where talkind Mpeg4 files).

It is firmware upgradable but i havent come across any new firmwares yet (the player appears to be cable of reading from more than just USB there are options for Flash cards as well but these are locked out in the firmware)
  • Hello

I've got an old DVD player & CD/Tape/Radio player that have had their day. I imagine if I took then to a electronic repair centre they could be fixed, but I know it will be cheaper to buy a new DVD player & CD player. Does anyone know of any companies that buy out electronic equipment to repair/fix up so they can sell it on or take the electronics to fix up and give to charities that need them?

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

Here lets read about it while we wait i am not sure if it will be with us too soon.

I cant find translation anyway it seems close to yam6700 thanks for this thread otherwise i didnt know it existed.

p.s my Cello 8105 black colour from sainsburys looked like this model but I liked the zoom on it as it zoomed as well as out, + fast forwrd upto 32 so 2-4--8-16-32 does the yamada model do this? i hate players that do 2x-8x only

***another great thing about cello was it displayed pic thumbnail by time so even movies that didnt have chapeters i could find scenes.

  • You can get the umax/yamada/chili 6800x from newsell.de,
incl. p&p to the Uk it still cost only ~£46-£50 (depending on the exchange rate).

thankyou for that info cornflake but what is the differnce between 6700 and 6800 as i think it might be rebaged 6700 otherwise why wouldnt it be selling in this country.

oh btw the whsmith stores dont have yamada and on web it says 2-4 weeks fany waiting that long nop.
  • As far as i know the 6800x has componant and opitcal output, which the 6700 didn't had.
Not sure if they have fitted in a different drive system for the disc.
But anything else is basically the same.
However i don't think you can use the 6800 firmwares on it.
