You can still get the 6700 online i.e.

    http://www.fusion2u.com/cart/product.asp?intProdID=DVX-6700

or if you prefer to buy in person Maplin still have the odd 6600 kicking around their stores:

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=42451&TabID=2&WorldID=&doy=29m11#storecheck

scroll down to the Stock check part of the page, key in your postcode, and select the product from the drop-down. FWIW near me, Holborn (London) and Croydon branches appear to still have one.

    Hi Cornflakes,
You seem like the man (or woman) in the know. I've got a Yamada 6700 which I've very happy with as with modded firmware it supports packed bitstream and APS : QPEL and GMC with 1 warppoint. However my friends want a recommendation on whats the best player to buy for under £50 to support those and as the Yamada isn't available anymore I don't know what to recommend.
First i'm male, if i'm were woman i would call meself Special-K instead ^^.
If you're talking about xvid + qpel and gmc,
i'm not sure if there is anything out there that supports it.
Maybe the sigmatek 400 pro can do it but is arround £70.

I wonder if you were to transfer the xvid file onto a USB flash stick and then insert the stick into the player it will read directly from it, ie. no need to use a CD/DVD!

I think this works : No CD... Pixmania sell USB stick bundled with this player, read the narrative on the bundle offers.

I think you can connect a USB HDD as well so if you have an external drive with its own PSU that should be fine.

I've emailed the manufactures but had no reply :(

USB HDD seems too slow, by all acounts, for anything worth watching in quality DivX.

Hi Rufus, cheers for that, I'd prefer the 6700 as i know what it can do and I think is better than the 6600. I'll let my m8's know.

    Hi MR Cornflakes
I'm happy to settle for what the 6700 provides really, which is packed bitstream support, QPEL and GMC with 1 Warppoint (Xvid encoder default is\was 3 Warppoints!). Would be handy to know what the current equiv of the 6700 is.
    Cheers

I hope more drives have USB support and flash drive readers as well as the QPEL, GMC, etc..

It will save burning the DVD-RWs etc...

Ideally I'd like one with Wifi and WPA. The KISS ones only have WEP :(
