Me - didn't bond with DS1 for nearly 2 years because he was a boy & had bad PND and HAD to find out the sex when pg with DS2 (for my own sake) to make sure I got used to the fact before he was born if he was a boy (which he was and was fab!)
THIS one is also a boy - and, yes, I wanted a girl - so was disappointed (I know it's random, but 50/50 gives the odds of 2 girls/ 2 boys with 4 children) but not as much - partly because of the CVS and before I found out he's a boy I found out he's healthy -a more imporatnt thing.
What's hard is I haven't told family teh sex and tehy all think and want it to be a girl - I wish they'd butt out to be honest
I can totally see where your friend is coming from efrieze. Time before the birth may help, although I did have the fact I had a DD as my first child. Definitely some counselling. Facing up to the issue and admitting it is the hardest - and getting someone to take her seriously. I don't think she's selfish. Pretending there isn't a problem would be far worse and more damaging. Dealing with it meas she will probably bond with DS2 a lot sooner than if trying to cover it up.
And no I didn't get pg with DS2 to have a girl - he was unplanned - I was tested for early menopause and told I'd need 'help' if I wanted another baby. As I had 2 I said no - and DH & I got careless about contraceptionI found out the sex though to ensure I didn't go through the same as I did with DS1 - I still feel guilty, but people saying 'he's healthy' etc aren't helping. I had 2 friends my age die within 24 hours of giving birth to much longed for firstborns, one after much fertility treatment. I have a cousin my age who cannot have children. WHilst I could appreciate how lucky I was to have a healthy boy it still didn't change the fact it was a boy, not teh girl I wanted.

Morning all, Congrats to Durham. Great BS!
I am 13 weeks pregnant, and my clothes don't fit my anymore
I don't really have much of a bump yet, but I feel I could fill out within the next couple of weeks. I don't know what to do about clothes. I really need trousers for work, and I can't decide whether to just buy normal trousers in a bigger size, or whether to buy maternity trousers. I haven't looked at maternity clothes yet, so no idea how they work. Would I be able to wear them without much of a bump, or can you really only make use of them once your bump has developed? What's your advice ladies?
Thanks x
I've got the type with elastic and buttons inside the waistband - mine were from Topshop (black trousers for work). You make them as tight as you need them then just move the button to the next hole along as you grow0 -
Hi everyone, another newbie here!
Hope this is the right place to post, apologies if it's not - please could you point me in the right direction?
I stopped taking the pill last year because DH and I wanted to start a family. My periods have always been really irregular, and still haven't settled into a proper pattern after stopping the pill. So far my cycles have been 49 days, 35 days and then 27 days. Now I'm on day 32 and think I could be pregnant, but as I don't have a regular cycle I don't know when to do a pregnancy test! When do you think I should test?
Many thanks0 -
Morning all..
Thank you for your birth story Durham, and lots of luck and labour vibes for Mel!Where's emlou this morning? Might we have a bumper birth day!
OH has gone nuts cos he's convinced there's evidence of mice visiting our kitchen in the night! Not unfesible as we do have a gaping hole in the ceiling where it was cut to do the boiler pipes (due to be fixed when the kitchen is refitted). Off to B&Q for us later..
After that, we're going to my sister's. She now lives near Monks Cross in York so I'm going to try their New Look for maternity tops *fingers crossed*0 -
Good luck Mel, thinking of you!
mrsmb, my periods were all over the place and I tested on day 32, would say to have a go if you're wondering and if not positive and no periods in a couple of days try again but read the instructions on the packet as it does tell you what to do. XToo many children, too little time!!!0 -
Gonna go now girls as the sun's out and I fancy a walk into Lyme Regis. Might even have an ice cream along the cobb. DD wants to see Hotel for Dogs as it's on in Lyme today. Back later. XXXToo many children, too little time!!!0

HUGE CONGRATS TO MFD!!!!!!!!! Benjamin is a lovely name.
Labour vibes to Mel - have we heard from emlou?
Fitzio - I am in the same boat - I am 12+5 and my trousers are getting tight (and some blouses!!). The only pair of non-work trousers I have that fit are a pair of size 12 jeans - problem is I am an 8 (lost some weight) and whilst they fit the bump they hang off my bum and thighs and look awful.
I plan to get some trousers that I can adjust with buttons very soon.
Have the mother of all headaches - really bad. Started off last night and I thought it would have been OK after a sleep but it's just as bad this morning. Might have to take a paracetamol in a bit.
One more sleep til I get to see bean again and OH will be with me as well :jA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -

Maternity clothes.
Last 2 pregnancies I made do with those elasticaded waisted 'old lady' trousers. This time I bought 2 pair mat jeans from mothercare, the ones with the jersy pannel up to your boobs. I had really bad bloating and they were the only things that didnt make me feel sick. Everything else was to tight and pressed on my stomach. I love my jeans, when I went back to my own size for a couple weeks I wore them anyway as they are so comfy and fit well from 10 weeks, and will grow with bump and will be nice and comfy after the birth too.
There is a thread about maternity clothes, and a few peopel did say that buying larger clothes is false ecconomy. They wont grow with you and will be stretched out of shape by the time baby arrives leaving you clothless if you can't get back into your old sizes.
Lunch is on, gammon steaks, salad and hm potato salad - yummy.0
