I lost my bit of paper when I had Aimee Sami... Think I left it at the hospital lol... I was ever so worried... But when I got to the registry office they had all my details on the computer and didn't ask me for anything anyway!

Tip girls... You only get the short version of the birth certificate but can get the full version for about £4 (or could 5 years ago) If you want to apply for a passport for the baby you'll need the full version and if you have to order it at a later date it will cost more....

That's my money saving tip for the week...

Weezl - great story thanks for that!

Well scan was AMAZING - bean was asleep and then suddenly woke up stretching and kicking. It was so cute. She made me 12 weeks and 2 days - gonna leave EDD as I'll go over anyway!!! took pic of bean and sent it to OH who was amazed.

Bit upset afterwards, went to book 19 week scan and asked for a Weds appt, was told I couldn't as I was under Consultant. Explained I wasn't so got a Weds appt for 29th April.
I went to collect my notes from ante-natal (THE OTHER SIDE OF THE HOSPITAL!!!) and was told I couldn't have them as I needed to see the consultant first. Explained that I am midwife led not consultant led but NO I am consultant led so need to see him/her on 9th April. I'm fuming:mad: , I've been put under Consultant with no warning. Am waiting for MW to call me back now to explain why.

Not going to let it spoil my day thou - been walking around with big silly grin ever since!

Where does the time go?

    That still stands Krystal :D
My tip is also if you are planning to get married shortly after having baby don't get the full one when you register them (unless you will need it inbetween) coz you'll need a new one when you re-register bubs after you're wed ;)

sami, Kristal, anyone there with kids already?

Erm, dumb question, but, how do I register my baby?

    :rotfl::o:rotfl:I'm embarrassed I don't know this!

Thanks for liking my hugely long story folks :)

Yes you have to make appointment with registry office. Its all done in about 20 mins and really simple. GET MORE THAN ONE BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Everybody wants one and you cant be hanging on waiting for one person to return it before you send to someone else. You have to send one to child benefit, one to tax credits etc. I bought 4 and was glad i did. Plus if you buy them when you register they are half the price than if you want one another time.

Shelvis, I thought tax credits just went off the child benefit system so they take your word for it and you don't have to send anything off?

Child benefit do accept the short certificate too...

    Hi all,

I'm new to this thread - expecting my first on 24 June (which seems rapidly to be getting nearer!). Currently trying to get in all the various bits and pieces we'll need - there seems a bewildering amount of stuff to buy! Does anyone have any hot tips as to how to do this without spending a fortune - or has this already been covered elsewhere in which case I can't find it - any links to useful threads or posts also welcome.

Have just read your BS Weezl - congratulations!

    Welcome to the list ebba...

Cheapest way is to get everything 2nd hand.... Or borrow off people you know who have just had children... Don't get sucked in by all the things the magazines and catalogues tell you that you need... You don't!
