    Hello All,

    Hugs to Becky.

I had my 8 week appointment with the midwife yesterday. She was really friendly and nice which was good. I took my OH but I am not sure he was really needed, but he did contribute to his family history which I had no idea about.

I forgot to ask her about playing netball - I play Tues nights 5.30-7pm but am not sure if I should stop. It is my main source of exercise so not sure if I should. I may just see how it goes and maybe referee so I can't get bashed by anyone (unless there is a dispute with my refereeing :D )

I told her I was getting married in May and we have booked our honeymoon to Florida (booked before I found out I was pregnant) she said I should get some flight socks and make sure I drink plenty and get up every half hour. Can anyone recommend flight socks?

Also, I am booked for a body massage and spa day (as part of my hen party activities) and am unsure what to do about it. Should I cancel it, or maybe just have a facial? The MW wasn't very helpful and just said to ask the company, yet all the companies literature said to ask your GP?!

Hope all is okay for everyone. Labour vibes to anyone who needs them.

    Karen

Scholl do flight socks, MIL uses them along with baby asprin (she's paranoid :p)
I wouldn't cancel spa day, provided you don't have a history of miscarriage and you tell the therapist ur preg they will know which oils not to use etc
If you have to book treatments before hand I would call them and ask to speak to a therapist so you can find out what is best to book, or go for a mani, pedi and facial :D

No miscarriages, but have never been pregnant before.

Will get in touch with them and see what they suggest.

Will have a look into Scholl Flight socks (I feel like such a granny!!:rotfl: )

I was at a spa while 16 weeks pregnant and they would only do a specific pregnancy massage or a facial. Check with the spa - my pregnancy massage was incredible. Seriously wonderful.

Karen - depends how much of a worrier you are, I'm not a worrier and had massages in early preg, plain oils and I know the therapist v well and she knew I was preg and so followed the rules of massage in pregnancy.
I think the general rule is not the have them rubbing you around middle ie where baby is and not to have a deep massage plus certain oils are to be avoided.
I'm sure you'll have a lovely day tho, do avoid certain facials if ur spa visit is within a week before wedding as they can bring out spots and you wouldn't want those on ur wedding day :D

You can't use any of the steam rooms etc either if you go to a spa btw... you CAN have facials and certain massages - definitely call them first though because individual places have their own rules on if they will even entertain having a pregnant woman treated there - some are paranoid about getting sued if the woman does miscarry - how do you prove a treatment you gave someone DIDN'T contribute to her loosing the baby?
    Definitely call and ask :)

One has been advised that it is only the very large stores that sell maternity clothes. and I mean the BIG ones. Like the one at Trafford Centre.

    Hi Glam,

Seem to only post on here about maternity clothes, Asda Wigan has started to sell as small range of maternity clothes. But once again trousers, jeans are too long for us little legged people. But there are a couple of tops and blouses that are shown on line.

I am about a week ahead of you and have also a few little flutter or bubbles.
