Hi everyone,
I have a question that maybe you can help me with...
I regularly work over 10 hours overtime a week, on top of a 38 hour week. I am often required to work evenings and weekends.
My question is: Despite my being exhausted, queasy and being very uncomfortabe due to round ligament pain (which is exacerbated by sitting at my desk for hours on end), can my boss still make me do so many hours a month overtime?
I read up online that employers should take overtime into account when doing the pregnancy risk assessment, but they are very pro-overtime. I'm just worried about overdoing it and not sure how far I can put my foot down.
Thanks for any advice/info you can give me!

I would have thought that overtime is time above your contracted hours, therefore cannot be assumed that you will do it? You should be able to refuse it if it's adversely affecting your health. Could you get your MW to write a letter for your employer?Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

I can sympathise Annie. While you don't have to do overtime, if your work for a company who almost insist that everyone does, it is very hard to say no. Hope you can put your foot down and not work too hard, without them making you feel bad.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

*is being entertained no end by DH and BIL trying to move two sofas from livingroom to van* The banter alone is priceless, how many christian non-swera words can BIL come out with to counteract DH's very much so swear words?0

Bonsoir madame
Well, pretty sh1tty day! In a nutshell
- No additional pay other than SMP.
- Manager above me is leaving at end of the month so I went to speak to the boss about possibly acting up for 6 months but it seems they don't want to replace her so may not happen. Really gutted as I have been waiting for this opportunity for over a year now.
Stupid all day meeting where I did all the work and got no credit for it.
Have decided now that when I am on mat leave I will def look and see if I can find something else. Not going to let it bother me too much though - 6 months til mat leave (How sad)
Oh, guess what? I have been feeling a little fluttering- not a lot but a def flutter! Am so sure it is bean!! :j
Found out someone else I know is 5 months pg!! Which is cool.
I have caught up but can't remember a thing except Krystal's gross stories and AM - oh, it's exciting!!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Oops.. I dozed off
*hugs* Glam..On the bright(?) side, mat leave does come round very quickly so your time left will fly by
Scary when I realised earlier I've got two months and a week before I'm handing over my job!

Thanks elle
It already seems to be going fast and with having lots of appointments coming up, I find it easier to count down the weeks when I have an appointment to look forward to.
2 weeks til consultant
5 weeks til 19 week scan
How sad am I?!!!
I am just hoping now that I can save enough to top up SMP so that I can have a few months off! Will be interesting to see if they still let me do overtime now they know I am pg!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

(((hugs for Glam)))
I've got nothing to sit on except DH's footstool/puffee thing or a hard wooden chair, how do I watch Eastenders? Also knackered because I helped disasemble the sofas and hoovered them.
Pregnant lady needs to watch telly in comfort but had no telly in her bedroomAnd DH has now left so I'm all lonely.

I had wondered about that - feels a bit like betting a note from your mum to be excused PE, but I think it might have to happen. I'd like to fix it at a certain amount of hours a week max, unless I decide I want to do more - at least that would take away the pressure...0
