Orchid Dialler Discount

I have just bought the V4 Dialler and am now using 18866 fro land line calls and 1899 for mobile calls and international ones. The delivery was very quick, within 24 hours.
One thing to note is the setup of it can be a little long. Orchid will set it up for you for £2 when you order it, which I think is well worth it considering the time it takes to do it.
Make sure they give you the 10% discount though as on my invoice they charged me full price.0 -
Hi All,
Just a quick reminder to 'force your dialers home' to ensure that they pick up the correct time from the orchid servers for the British Summer Time change so that your 'time of day' routing remains correct.
I have checked the manual and can find no reference to the dialers changing on their own so assume that they will need to dial home.
Happy Easter.

stellagypsy wrote:Hi Hotrod - yes, you can programme the V4 for up to 9 csp's I think. Best £15 I have ever spent.
I am with BT and I use the following -
Daytime / evening weekday land lines - 18866 (1p connection charge)
Weekend land line calls - Onetel (free)
Weekday daytime mobiles - 1899 (3p connectioncharge + 10p per min, cheapest I can find)
Weekday evening mobiles - Onetel (works out cheaper for the networks we dial)
Weekend mobiles - 1899 (3p per connection charge + 2p per min )
0845 / 0870 - BT (Cheapest)
Premium rate - barred
Directory enquiries - Onetel (free)
If you are with NTL / Telewest you would have to use a slightly different set up, eg 1899 work out cheaper for the daytime landline calls. My mum is on NTL and I have added her to my 1899 service so she can use the prefix and not get ripped off for the calls. In 3 months of normal useage for her she has clocked up less that £2.00 worth of calls on 1899 - this would have been about £35 on NTL. She gave me a fiver and told me to tell her when it runs out, she can't beleive that it is still going strong!!!
This has saved me (and my mum) a packet, it was easy enough to do (must be if I could do it!) - on the whole highly recommended.
HTH,
Stella
Sorry to sound a bit thick, but if you programme all thse different providers, (a) do you have to set up accounts with all of them and (b) how do you pay the call charges?0 -
Hi Hansi -
I have accounts with all 3. All 3 were set up on the internet. Onetel bills - I pay these from my current account - they e-mail me a bill and about 10 days later it comes out. 1899 and 18866 bills - these come off my credit card - same thing, they e-mail me a bill and about 10 days later they take payment. It must seem like a lot of hassle but beleive me, the savings are well worth it. Plus you can check you call charges online any time you like so you can see how much you are in for. I do mum's also. It only takes a few minutes to set up each one.18866 only bill when you have got about £3.00 charges, so it took me quite a while to rack that up at the rate of 1p a call. 18899 and Onetel bill every month, but this month my total bill for calls over all 3 providers nc my mum's calls was £8.63, a lot less than the £250.00 (yes, you read that right) that NTL were charging me for calls before I changed back to BT and sorted this out.
HTH, Stella
PS mum still hasn't used up her fiver yet!!0 -
Thanks for tnat Stella. With the Onetel bills, is the free offer on all the time, or will I have to pay extra in the future.0

I just went to the Orchid site and downloaded the V4 user guide. Gosh, it looks really complicated with all the set up instrctions and the PC software. Is it as difficult as it looks!0

No - I found it esasy - just do it step by step - or pay £2 for them to do it0 -
Hansi - I had 2 goes at it, it was fine the second time. Just plan your table first then follow the instructions in the user guide. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks, I think I will, I take it you ask them to do that when you purchase it?0
