i have just been wondering what tuna and orange squash tastes like?;)
my OH sometimes feels he is being deprived of the food he likes (which is also expensive), so i have to do half and half, try and get good deals (without him realising) and get him to accept some 'use-up' meals.
he has been ok recently - i have allowed him a weekly steak / meat budget! i also agree the meal plans before we/i go food shopping. so he can't say.....'i don't want that'....etc etc...:rolleyes:0 -
Well, its officially the end of month one - and WE GOT HERE WITHOUT USING THE CREDIT CARD!!! :j:j:money::T:T:A
The first month since the beginning of time I think!! OK so we didnt have any money left, but neither did we increase any debt!! And more to the point, the debt will be going down when monthly payments made! Woo Hooooo!! :j:j:j
Need to be more careful with spending though - as in spending on "stuff". You know "stuff" - not groceries, or petrol, or necessities - just "stuff"!!! Need to write down every single thing to check where its going!
Groceries - spent £280  for 4 of us. And I was trying really hard as well!! £70 a week is too much, I know that. Will really try & get it down this month. Am doing my meal plans and sticking to them, and downshifting on brands, and buying reduced things already, will just have to try harder!
Petrol too - spent £90  & we havent really been anywhere! Its frustrating though, as I have to use car to drop DDs at school and then go straight on to work, no public transport will fit the times and its too far to cycle. (Well perhaps for a fit healthy cycling fanatic it would be ok...:rotfl:but thats not meeeee!!! lol!)
We're going away for the bank holiday weekend, staying with family so no actual costs other than petrol and entertainment - which wont be much as they live near the sea! So lots of free places to go! And will be just nice to be away and spend time with them!
One thing that may stick a spanner in the works this month - the car is desparate for 2 new tyres. DH has been researching best price - could be up to £120 a tyre :eek::eek: so that could be a real challenge!
Am doing a car boot sale tomorrow - getting up at stupid o clock to go and sell my rubbish in the hope that people will buy it! Hope it goes well - might make enough for half a tyre :rotfl:0 -
Good luck for the carboot and YAY for the successful month :j0

Hooray, no credit card...well done:beer:
And weekend away sounds good - where are your family? My sis, her hub and 3 girls live an hour away by the sea, so we like to go visit them. My girsl loved it last week wehn they went to stay without me. Eldest said it's boring where we live - she has a point, but my job's here as are all her friends, she'd miss them really:p
My grocery challenge going ok, but only because I wasn't well and didn't eat anything apart from toast for a week, and girls weren't here - it helps;) I'm a bit poor this week til TCs go in on Thurs, so been using up stuff and have written a rather sparse list to take to Tesco tomorrow:D
I'm impressed with you doing a car boot - I planned to do some after we moved, but still have the stuff boxed in the shed - it really doesn't appeal to me gettin up early, on my own.....nahhhhh:rotfl:
Anyway, have a good weekend;)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Hiya Milly!
They're in Cornwall - just over the border from Devon, about 3 hours from us. Am really looking forward to it!
Had a successful morning - got DD's school shoes and a pair of sandals from Clarks outlet - total price is what I would have normally paid just for the school shoes! So happy with that!
Also bought 2 books ready for birthday presents in...ummm cant remember name of shop :rotfl:but its another outlet one lol!
Took their boots in for reheeling - £9.95 each pair!!!:eek::eek: HOW do they get away with charging that!!! Suppose its cheaper than new boots though, and lots of wear still in the boots so worth it - just painful!
Need to get behind into gear this afternoon, Operation Eggshell needs to get under way in the garden and got to sort & pack up the car boot stuff!
Busy Mogchops!0 -

Very successful afternoon! :T
Operation Eggshell off to a good start, outdoor veggie patch now protected with jaggedy fortress, will be monitoring closely for those pesky little slimy critters
Potted on lots of little seedlings, fingers crossed have done it all correctlyand not killed the lot!
Car now full to bursting ready for booting, DH has been up in the loft too and found all sorts of carp  that he thinks I can sell! Cassette tapes from the 80's anyone??!! :rotfl:You never know I suppose!!
DH also made lovely spag bol for tea, his signature dish, totally delicious, plus extra for freezing. He's such a good boy!0 -
