Morning....thought I'd pop over to your diary and say hi:hello:
You sound like you're really getting organised;) I must say, I love meal planning - I haven't done a plan for this week and feel a bit lost - I need to know what I'm doing for dinner! Mind you, with me doing WW again, it rules out some of the meals we did have...or maybe I'll still do them for the girls and I'll have an adapted version
What seeds have you been planting? I really want to grow stuff - veg as well as flowers;) , but I really have no idea where to start:o I have no beds in the garden, so could buy pots etc, but I just have no idea what's easy enough for me to attempt to grow!!
Enjoy the few days off work - I'm signed off til tomorrow, that'll be just over a week, but I feel I've been off for weeks and weeks! Not sure if I'll go back, tis still painful and I'm up and down, moving about a lot at work, so not sure if I'd manage without keeling over:p
Anyway, have a good day:DI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Hi Milly,
Meal planning - only really started doing it seriously in the last couple of weeks, but it is really working! No more of that "come home from work and gaze blankly in the fridge/freezer" syndrome! And I make it fit with WW food if I need to - a lot of what we have is casseroles/meat & veg/curry/spag bol etc, so its all quite healthy. Luckily my children are very good eaters, not picky or fussy, & they eat a great range of vegetables! :T
Seeds in the garden, this is the first time we are making a serious go of it! Our garden is quite small, on a slope, and the soil is useless (its thick clay) so anything we grow veg wise has to be in pots or growbags. We have started with tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, broad beans and also some bedding plants. So far just little shoots in little pots, but I am talking to them every day so hopefully that is helping!! :rotfl:
Hope you feel better soon, take it easy and get plenty of rest!0 -
Meal plan for the week written, stuck on the cupboard and being adhered to!! :T So far so good! And dont need to do any more shopping for it!
Off work for a couple of days as got an inner ear viral infection, is making me dizzy & lose balance, so am not allowed to drive! Dont mind the couple of days off work though! :rotfl: Good chance to catch up with housework while there is no-one to get under my feet!
We have been planting more seeds - and got a compost bin from freecycle, DH has taken charge of it, I think its going to be his "thing" , fine by me! :rotfl:
Sorry you're not feeling chipper Mog, that's rotten! Still, well done for the meal plan (that is something I really need to start doing - even if it is just for me!). Also good work on the seeds. How 'Good Life' of you! :rotfl:

Hiya,
Sorry to ask more questions...;) With the seeds - do they need to be indoos right now? Must try and get some seeds this weekend, oh and pots to put them in! Never been interested really in growing things - we tried a few years ago, got the seeds to grow, but lost it all when I put them outside. Mum gave me a tomato plant last year, but it died on me:oI really need to sort out a new signature!0 -

hmm....I am still a complete novice at this, and am religiously following the instructions on the packets!!Some of them say start indoors then move outside, some of them have to be covered, some dont, I'm following the instructions very carefully and labelling everything!! :rotfl: We've got one of these small greenhouse shelf unit things that sits against the wall, 4 shelves covered in a plastic tent thing, so some of them are out in that.
There are quite a few very experienced gardeners on these boards - from memory, I think Fay stripey socks lady is one, and sophiesmum too I think? Their advice will probably be far more helpful than mine!!
I almost had a NSD today - but turned into a LSD - £2.83 on bread & packet of pasties for DH's lunches!! :rotfl: Ah well!0 -
Thank you - will have a look throough the greenfingersboard too;)
As for my NSDs - I'm afraid I have my own funny rules - if it comes out of my £200 grocery budget then it doesn't ruin an NSD, but things like mags, toiletries, treats etc would ruin an NSD so I do still try to avoid those. Today I just thought stuff it and bought a mag:p I do find it reasonably easy though to get NSDs in during the week as I drive straight to work, which is a school, then after work to go to the shops is out of my way, so I go straight home! As I've been meal planning every week this year (except this week:o ) then I've usually got all the groceries I need, maybe need to top up on bread and milk during the week.
Oh look, I've waffled a bit on your diary again....sorry;)I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
    I need to rant - this seemed like a good place....
Nothing to do with money - just families aaaaghhh:mad:
Dont want to go into huge detail - just one of those really common problems of two weddings on the same day at opposite ends of the country - one his family & one mine!!
However - we were always going to do the one from my family - as its close family - the one on DH's side is a second cousin twice removed or something ridiculous - havent seen him in years, never met his fiancee, wouldnt know them from adam!! DH is totally happy to be not going, as it would have cost 200 miles in petrol plus 2 nights in hotel plus all other associated expenses etc etc etc.
But - you've guessed it - DH never got around to telling his mother that we werent going - (I had RSVP'ed the invite correctly btw) & his mother had just assumed that we were all going. (His parents live 300 miles away from us). So tonight DH is at work & I get phone call from MIL chattering on about this wedding - THAT WE ARE NOT GOING TO!!!! And I had to tell her!! Agggghhhh.
Ok rant over. His mother just winds me up!!! They used to live close by, then 3 years ago upped sticks & moved to the other end of the country, so we can only manage to get up there once a year (distance, work, school, the usual) they hardly ever come down here - & she has the cheek to say she misses her grandchildren!! Well you shouldnt have moved to the other end of the country then!!

Before anyone states the obvious about a couple of things on my list: Beer. I dont drink much at all, but DH drinks 4 cans of stella every day, which adds up. He knows he has a problem, and is trying to deal with it, but these things take time. He is NOT an alcoholic, just likes a few cans to wind down of an evening. He works very long unsocial hours. Please dont anyone have a go about this, as we know its a problem and are trying to work through it, but I wanted to be honest on my outgoings.
Tobacco - again, I dont smoke, DH does, but only roll ups, hence £25 is pretty low, as a small packet of baccy @ £2.50 odd lasts him a couple of days.
DH has just nicked a fiver "in case he wants a coffee or sausage roll once I've eaten my sandwiches". AAAAAGH doesnt he get this yet!!! Yes I know he is out on the road for 10 hours but I have done him a big packed lunch!! (he's a breakdown assistance patrol).
I am not having a go here, but I am a little worried for you both. One can of Stella is about two and a half units of alcohol, so four cans would be ten units. As the liver processes approximately one unit an hour, it is possible your husband would be still over the legal drink drive limit at the start of his next shift. If he happened to get caught ... it would be unthinkable.
I do wonder if your husband might be suffering with an undiagnosed mental health issue such as depression or stress? This is incredibly common (25% of the population each year), even more so in smokers, drinkers or those who rely on any form of stimulant such as sugar or caffeine. It can be a bit of a chicken-and-egg thing, 'self-medicating' to relieve the mental heath condition, with the after effects of worsening symptoms and dependency on the 'treatment'.
I am not looking for a response to this (unless you feel you want to), but if this strikes a chord then getting proper medical treatment for the underlying condition can go a long way to resolving the need for alcohol/ nicotine/ stimulants. Hope this comes across as helpful as it is meant. :ADeclutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Hi Firefox,
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post. I appreciate it.
Without going into details of things I dont want to talk about here, I understand what you are saying and can indeed relate to it. I dont really want to say much moreas its not my place to. But I fully understand the alcohol issues, and we are working through things.
Thank you xxx0 -
