I paid £4 via paypal fo ra little pocket size sim card reader, allows you to back up 2 sim cards in seperate slots (kind of like a his and hers) it even has a password function to stop kids playing with it and deleting those vital numbers.
Also keep in mind if you use a free sim just to keep numbers on after a period of about 6 months of inactivity they will cut off the sim and youll lose the numbers!!!0 -

Why not buy a cheap SIM card from Tesco, £1.50 or so if I remember rightly, and save your old SIM numbers to your phone , change Sim to the new one and then save the phone numbers to the new SIM. Remove the new SIM and keep it in a safe place. You could even use the new SIM (pay as you go top up required) in an old phone ( we've all got several!! )that you have tucked away in a corner gathering dust should you lose your phone.0

I have a Samsung phone which is a bit broken and have been told they wipe the phone's memory when it is sent off to be fixed.
So far, no problem except my sim card only holds 200 entries. Did a friend audit and deleted until I only had 200(!) including plumber etc.
Birthdays etc not a problem as I have an old calendar with all of them on, and I don't use the diary.
On Samsung phones unlike my old Nokia you can tranfer all your address book in one go from SIM to phone but not the other way round. It takes 7 steps to transfer each single entry back to the SIM.
Phone has bluetooth and IR, computer doesn't. Lady in carphone warehouse tells me smiling that even if I found someone with bluetooth or bought cable, I still have to go through same process to transfer each of my entries. Is she right? This sounds really stupid.
Any ideas?
Please save me from RSI or thumb strain

I have several old phones with text messages on them from my wife before we were married (Yes Sloppy Stuff). Does anyone know how I could back-up/save these. I know I could spend half a lifetime writing them out in 'Word' or something, but I'd like the originals with the date etc.
Thanks.0
