in Credit cards
HSBC have made some changes to their credit card...
0% Duration - reduced from 9 months to 6 months.
APR - a rather sneaky hike from 13.9% to 14.9% APR.
BT Fee - although a fee is not mentioned in either the summary box or the product features, and there doesn't appear to be any online T&C's, they have removed the "and we don't charge a balance transfer fee" announcement on the product features page. Are we going to see a BT fee in the near future from HSBC?

As always - a reliable source. THANKS0

I've been waiting that long for my "Accepted" 9 month 0% card that I will probably only have six months left anyway
They shouldn't advertise such a good offer if they cannot administer the take up!
Anyone else waited 6 weeks like me so far?????0 -
Sorry Buss I win!
Your post stirred me into action, so I've just called up that admirable financial
behemoth the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation.
Young Scottish guy on the phone tells me that my online application was first processed on the 8th December some 11 weeks back.
I told him I stood to win a prize (well in my eyes anyway) for the lengthiest application, on a "well known moneysaving website".
I mentioned that I'd heard the length of the O% deal had been cut, and bt's introduced, but he said the t's and c's were as per your original application date---which was nice.
He's also told me to go into HSBC branch and request my card be sent to me
as it appeared to have been ready for dispatch some weeks ago. I did'nt
challenge this other hurdle that has been put in my way, i.e why on earth
should I have to do that after all the info that has been shown them, but will
probably do it because I'm just about ready for the BT now!
Best number I could advise is the HSBC customer relations dept on the "say no to 0870" website.
Best regards

argghhhh, what a useless bunch of merchant bankers  - they have only waited another fortnight to send my id back saying it's not good enough (utility bill older than 4 months). I pay everything on line and they say they don't accept online utility bills, argggghhh - what a useless bunch of muppets.
have to agree though - the customer services number is good so going into the branch next week to "prove my identity" and cancel my current account lol - :beer:0 -
I had been waiting since 18th Dec as you may have seen from my previous posts about HSBC. I went to the branch on Monday and within 30 minutes I had my application dealt with and a balance transfer at 0% for 9 months made there and then. My card arrived next morning. Dealing with the branch was a pleasure compared with the apparent incompetence of the Indain call centre. Take my advise and go to your nearest branch if your application has already been accepted, It's worth the journey.

Today's headlines are along the lines of "squeeze the 'tarts' "
.
Do people think that others will follow HSBC's lead, or will bargains continue to spring up from other sources?
I'm a latecomer to these parts, although I think I knew one of the original stoozers - an internet personality known as Sarah Count, who also knew every Football ground in the country inside out - impressive as she really was a gal.
I digress.
To cut to the quick, is it still worth my while to get on board this game?0 -

yup, still a game worth playing for sure, just pick your team carefully - you would have to be technically insane to want to take up an hsbc card after reading the various threads on it. there are better cards and better service to be had tbh0 -
I've only been waiting about 3 weeks since sending off my signed form, wages slip and utility bill. So certainly a lot less than some other respondents here. But doing the BT from my current AMEX card to the 9 month 0% HSBC is one of the core steps of my debt reduction, so I'm itching to get it underway.
Are there any steps that people can take to try to hurry things along? Or do you just have to wait and wait?

Nick, as I posted above (post 6#), go to a main/branch office. It takes less than an hour and they will do your balance transfer there and then.
