They seem to have updated the list by removing duplicates as my name is now higher up and Andrew Short is only there once so look again, you might be on it now!

• I am a bit concerned about whether the whole thing was set up to collect personal details. The company (ies) trading as tastelondon are not listed in the Register of Data Controllers at the Information Commissioner Office (ICO), which I think is a criminal offence. More details in my blog.

They're not collecting personal data. I have done the 1 month trial and didn't receive any spam. Just a few emails offering me a discount price and a phone call (but you can give out a false number if you're bothered).
It's kind of pathetic that you blogged about this.

I am gutted that I didnt get a year card because I submitted at 2:02pm and it 404ed. I'm convinced that I would of gotten a card if that didn't happen and I could really do with one but that's how it is. Win or lose. Am I angry at tastelondon? No. I might even just buy one. But seriously, stop moaning. No one owes you anything!

edit: Oh and btw just incase anyone was wondering, when I did my month trial my card was actually only valid for less than 3 weeks, a bit of a shame but nevermind.
Thanks MSE!!

Just sent them an email.

We shall wait on the next stage, but I have my N1 county courts form at the ready for breach of various laws.
It will be easier for them (and cheaper) to just give me what I actually got.

Your ex-job title says it all - rail ticket inspector!!! They have to be 2nd in the list of ^W@^s just behind traffic wardens. Rather than wasting your time complaining about missing out on a 'freebie' shouldnt you be looking for a new job? I believe the traffic warden industry are recruiting people like yourself.

Now, I'm gonna try and get some Jacko tickets - if I dont get through to Ticketmaster, I have my N1 county courts form at hand.

What's the betting that 90% of people on the list, who managed to load it in time, were using MAC OS X like me :rotfl:
Why would your choice of operating system have any relevance to your success at accessing a server that is crashing repeatedly?

If you managed to get one, well done. I think most of us in here would be genuinely pleased to see people getting something back for all their effort.

If you didn't, you might well be feeling that Tastelondon have done themselves no favours here. They've given away (if we accept what they say at face value, which some might find difficult in view of the confusion over this 'offer') 2000 memberships. They might charge £70 normally, but any actual cost to Tastelondon is minimal - restaurants are falling over themselves to get customers in, and BOGOF deals are ten a penny, so it's unlikely Tastelondon have to pay restaurants anything for inclusion.

With so many free meal deals around, Tastelondon are probably having difficulty selling something which most people can effectively get for nothing, so the harvesting of several thousand email addresses, telephone numbers and addresses might well have made this a very profitable exercise. Did anyone notice any mention of how your details will be handled in the offer? Is there any mention of data protection anywhere on the website?

This may look like a free offer, but there may be more truth than you think in the old phrase 'no such thing as a free lunch'.

I hope they do 1-per-address so more people get a chance.

I will have to strongly disagree. We are 2 flatmates who applied, if I get the card it won't be of any use to my flatmate & vice versa :p

You could be kind and let flatmate borrow it when they are hungry. Or bring back a doggy bag when you go without them.
