I've used the Travelodge in Eastbourne twice and love it.
It's a grand, traditional looking building on the seafront which has been "Travelodgised".
The staff are friendly and helpful. I've always found the rooms to be clean and have been lucky enough to have had seaview rooms.
It's ideally located to explore the area. Coastline buses stop close by. So you can get to Brighton via Beachy Head or all the way to Hastings for example. Of course you could just sit on the seafront eating your traditional seaside fayre of fish and chips or ice cream.
There's a lovely chinese buffet and a great pub (The Marine, I think) nearby.
It was fun spotting all the places in the film Brighton Rock which was filmed in the area.
I've stayed in a few Travelodges and this one certainly ranks amongst my favourites.
Leeds Vicar Lane has been my best experience due to the staff going out of their way to help my Mom when we stayed there a few years ago. We were given a fantastic twin room, away from the noise and with a brilliant bathroom. It's also a good base to explore northern England.
Travelodge Cardiff Atlantic Wharf is great as it is on a leisure park ie cinema, bowling, restaurants etc and it is in the Bay area so there's lots to see and do. I've walked across the Barrage over to Penarth.
Blackpool Central was nice as it is on the seafront (seaview room again), is air conditioned and is very close to the Tower and shops.
The Travelodge in Stratford Upon Avon is good because it is opposite a retail park with a supermarket, fast food places etc so you can stay in a fairly expensive area at a very reasonable rate, leaving you with more ££ to enjoy all the culture which the town has to offer.
Many years ago when I stayed in Bath Central the room was wonderfully old fashioned and nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
My least favourites are Liverpool Central and Bristol Central.
Liverpool: Whilst the room itself was ok, the bathroom was another story! However, as I was really tired and was only there for one night I sprayed it with my disinfectant before use but tried to keep away from the grouting.
Bristol: It was impossible to find a secure twin, double or family room as all had problems with either the door or the window latches being broken.
Having stayed in a range of accommodation, I find Travelodge to be an excellent option for couples, especially when buffet breakfast is available, (but an even better deal if you don't really want much more than a clean, basic room and a hot drink and cereal for breakfast), for families as children get free breakfast and for the single traveller since there is no single room supplement. Some other chains might have impeccable customer/concierge service to cater to your every whim, chefs right there preparing your buffet breakfast, leisure facilities etc but that's why they cost so much. Guest houses might be more intimate but you are always aware that you are in someone else's home.
If you can book into a new or refurbished Travelodge at saver rates then you can't really go too far wrong.:T0 -
I have to recommend Leeds Colton, the fact that I've stayed there hundreds of nights (no exaggeration) over the last 3 years speaks for itself.0

Oxford Peartree is handy for visiting the city, as you can park there (with luck - it gets full) and get the Park and Ride bus. Think it was about £2 per person when I last went.
On Sundays there is some free parking in Oxford but the locals are on to the most central bits! We tend to drop grandparents off and walk in from free parking in the street further away (no, it's not free on week days)
Similarly, one of the Cambridge TLs is near a park and ride, I think - can't remember which though - maybe a local Moneysaver can help!0 -
Thanks so much TimeSaver, for your posting concerning Travelodge Eastbourne and for Travelodge Cardiff Atlantic Warf
During a previous sale (when dates for all of 2011 were on offer) Hubbyman and I secured 3 days (beginning next week at Cardiff Atlantic Wharf for an early spring break and several days mid-June at T'Lodge Eastbourne for my birthday trip.
Your comments will be great "timesavers" when planning ways to use our stays. I am already looking forward to a walk across the Barrage over to Penarth while at Cardiff and it seems there will be lots of choices if we want 'busy' activities.
I especially appreciate the tip for using the coastal coaches for reaching out from Eastbourne as we travel by rail, tips about public transport are always welcome and save me the time taken to research them. I've printed off your comments to put with my travel file for Eastbourne. Your helpfulness will be remembered in a toast sending you good wishes from the Atlantic next week and the English seaside in June.
Now I must be off to compose details for posting reference last week's stay at T'lodge in Bath Waterside. I will endeavour to follow your excellent example and include details to help save time and effort as well as ££ for fellow moneysavers. Thanks again and kindest regards.0 -
Can someone please tell me how on earth you book a cheap room at Travelodge.I have been trying for the last 3 days to book a room at their Covent Garden hotel for £35. I rang their phone number for help but was told they can only help if i pay double for the same room.
Every time i put my card details in, it takes forever to process the payment. Then it crashes and i am left having to start all over again.
I am trying to book for my husband and i to stay there for our anniversary April 10th.
PLEASE CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME SORT THIS OUT, BEFORE I GO MAD.0 -

During exceptionally busy periods the site does rend to crash. Keep trying.
best of luck."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

I have just noticed that in the key for room rates there is a new green one for "free dinner offer". Has anyone spotted a TL which offers this or is it perhaps to be the next sale offer?"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

I have had payment being processed for the last 4 hours on the travelodge site. Surely even if it is megabusy it cannot take that long?
