-The £412 I contacted you about is for the cost of replacing the windscree, the front lights, the steering column and steering rack, and the fitting. This is a very consevative estimate

The column you brought off ebay for the Mondeo only cost a fiver, so you've still got £75 of the £80....

By saying that the car has no knocks or bangs, has been well maintanined, has a full service history, and if not as described full or partial refund is due, then verbally that the windcreen was ok and that the car was ok!!

How did you not spot a broken windscreen??

The bodywork I have accepted, even though it was well hidden, and dented car does not imply 4 doors, 2 wings, bumper and bonnet

    "DENTS AND SCRATCHES ALL OVER"

    !!!!!

Who said it was broken? It has a haze of stonechips of something all over it, couldnt tell the difference between that and the haze of the dirt!!

Why are you bombarding me? Yes of course I have bought a new steering column, also a steering rack and a drive shaft, the car is dangerous!!!!

"LOTS OF STONECHIPS ON FRONT END"

So again it matched the description.

Found a bit of info for OP, hope is some help to you

Buying privately should be cheaper than buying from a dealer. But it is also riskier: the car may be stolen, or it may have been used as security for a loan or hire agreement and actually belong to a finance company. It’s always a good idea to complete an HPI check on a car and this might show up any outstanding finance or insurance claims made on the vehicle in the past.
You have fewer legal rights if you buy privately. The car must be as described, but the other rules don't apply. If a private seller lies about the condition of a car, you can sue for your losses - if you can find the seller.
Some dealers pretend to be private sellers to avoid their legal obligations and to get rid of faulty or over-priced cars. They advertise in local newspapers and shop windows. Warning signs to look out for include:
    • Adverts which give a mobile phone number or specify a time to call (it may be a public phone box, not the seller's home).
    • The same phone number appears in several adverts.
    • When you phone about the car, the seller asks “Which one?”.
    • The seller wants to bring the car to you or meet you somewhere, rather than you going to the seller's home.
    • When you get to the sellers home and there seem to be a lot of cars for sale on the street

Hi thanks for that I really appreciate it x :-)

Unfortuantely it seems to be more fun for many people to attack rather than look at the facts and offer opinions on resolutions :-(

NO! The windcreen was SPECIFICALLY asked about, and no being told a car has dents and scratched would not lead me to believe it would need a windcreen! especially with an MOT only 3 months old!

Why would you have to ask about it when you went to collect it in person???

Could you not see the damage?

The problem with an MOT is it only confirms a vehicle is road worthy on the day they performed the MOT.

The £80 is a generous offer, as it stands they don't need to offer you anything as it's a private sale of a car that's done over 100k miles, and was described as being dented and scratched all over.

I'm not sure what you were expecting to buy?
