Hi Zig - just seen that you've paid off your debt - a v big well done from me to you  I hope you had a few drinks to celebrate!!
Today's not been so bad actually - paid for my train ticket this morning and bought oranges and chocolate at the shop for the week ahead, so it should be a low-spend week for me, hopefully
Some of my family members aren't very well, so I've had to book a few trips back to Ireland. Managed to get a return flight for £20 with Ryanair, so that's not too bad.
And in my debt-busting frenzy, I sold an old phone I had lying around for £20 on ebay and put a few books on Amazon - sold the first one this morning.
At the minute, I'm trying to sort my life out and I'm trying to get rid of this debt and get home and see my family and have a life at the same time. I think that's one of the reasons why I stopped trying as hard the first time. It just seems that no matter how hard I try, there doesn't seem to be a way when I can see myself comfortably off.
Basically, I had a super-dooper university education and all my friends are earning pretty much double what I'm on. But I chose a slightly different life and I'm not earning as much as them. I'm happy with that, honestly, because I have a nice life. But there's always something. So even when I get this debt paid off, there'll be something else. There'll be dentists' fees, there'll be car insurance, there'll be savings for a house, a mortgage, a wedding (maybe). What happens if my car totally caves in and I need to get a new one? It's just a bit demoralising. I'm over it, honestly, but it is really irritating.
But as I say, I'm over it, I'm back on the wagon and I'm debt-busting. Let's go!:jGoals for 2010 - pay off £3160 debt. Come on Pamela!0 -
Hello hello, hope you all had a lovely weekend!
Money saving things haven't been too bad actually. Sold lots of clothes on ebay and made £50(woo!) so that has helped me out a little bit.
It was a bit difficult to totally stick to my budget this week because of the mental weather - I had to take a couple of buses to work instead of my usual train so I've lost out there, but I'm going to write to the train company and ask for a refund on my weekly ticket, so that's good too.
Also, because of the postage costs, I've been a bit out of pocket, but that will make itself up when the money clears from what I've sold on ebay.
And I took a forward step by being accepted for an Egg card, at 0 per cent balance transfer. That should now save me £15 a month and will make it a lot easier to pay off my credit card. It's only £800 so it really shouldn't take too long. Let's cross all our fingers and toes!:jGoals for 2010 - pay off £3160 debt. Come on Pamela!0 -
Hello,
Last week was a bit difficult, because I had various little trips to do with work. I've paid out a bit more money than I intended, though I will get some of it back on expenses.
I need to rein myself in a bit this week, but generally speaking, it's been ok.
Sold lots of things on ebay and on amazon and made a few quid, which will go towards my debts.
And I got an egg card with a £2000 credit limit, so I've balanced transferred most of my overdraft and my credit card balances, so that will hopefully reduce the amount of interest.
I had been putting a bit of money away last year, in a regular saver (only £30 which I know could have gone on my debts but I'd already started it when I started debt busting and the interest rate was quite high) and that matured just before Christmas. I held onto it and this month, was able to pay my car insurance off in one go - an extra £50 a month to work with.
The next few months will prob be quite difficult, because I have a lot of important trips that I have to go on. But I'm hoping that, if I'm sensible, I won't go over my budget and I'll be able to work it all out.Goals for 2010 - pay off £3160 debt. Come on Pamela!0 -
