I hate Sundays, it's my one day of work a week!
Glad you had a good one though!
Great news that the money was yours to keep. £52 isn't too bad for what you got. And you needed it so it's a necessary expense
Have you decided what to do with the £100?
You've motivated me to go for a run tomorrow! I have a whole wardrobe of slimmer clothes waiting for me.. :rolleyes:Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

The joys of driving. I was on my way home from the pub quiz last night (didn't win but it's only £1 to enter and I was on soft drinks all night:j) when my car started shrieking. Apparently it was something to do with the fan belt. It was doing it back in the beginning of the year, but it just seemed to get better of its own accord, so I didn't do anything about it. But according to my dad, if I leave it any longer, it's likely to make my car go really funny.
Anyone know how much it costs to get a fan belt tightened? I'm going to ring round some garages today and hope that they will say a nice low number!Goals for 2010 - pay off £3160 debt. Come on Pamela!0 -
Did you manage to find out how much it would cost for the fan belt thing? How annoying!
My boyfriend works in a garage so I'm lucky in that he sorts out all the car stuff for meApparently (but obviously this is dependant on the car, and other factors) it should cost around £15. So if you're quoted hundreds, run away!

Hey,
I've been a tiny bit naughty. The lovely people at Kwik Fit didn't charge me anything for my car - they just tightened the fan belt and let me go! But obviously I'd still budgeted £35 for it to be fixed. But I've managed to fritter it away!
Basically, we live in a one-bed flat and we had the painters in. Our landlords have been v good at keeping on top of the maintenance of our flat, and we had awful damp, so they've totally been on the ball. The painters and decorators were in for three days, while we've both been at work. But I was off on Friday and knew I'd just get in their way, so I took myself off to the local shopping centre to have a coffee and read my book. Spent a lot of money on coffees and generally fritteriness and feel suitably ashamed! :mad:Goals for 2010 - pay off £3160 debt. Come on Pamela!0 -
Hi Pam!
Just thought I'd check in and see how you're doing
Hope you're not staying away cuz you feel quilty about the spending you mentioned in your last post!It wasn't that bad, we all have days where we seem to forget we are trying to get rid of debt and just go a bit crazy!! But then we get back on the boring, no-spend wagon to debtfreedom!

So it's been a while, and I feel suitably ashamed.
Basically, I had a lot of things happen to me over the past few months - nothing major, but I wasn't able to put my full efforts into debt busting. I didn't let it slide - I've been working on it, but I felt that it would seem like a cop-out if I tried to explain it on here.
I know, I'm an idiot.:o
Basically, we moved offices and my wages dropped considerably. Then I had my MOT, which cost a LOT more than I thought, then Christmas, then new year etc etc. I'm sure you've all had the same thing, but I just felt like a bit of an idiot trying to explain why I couldn't focus.
But I'm ready to go again now. As I say, I have been chipping away at the debt, slowly but surely, and I'm ready to go all-guns-blazing at it this year.
So let's get cracking!! :jGoals for 2010 - pay off £3160 debt. Come on Pamela!0 -
have just read your diary Pamela and I think you should be so proud of yourself, you may have had unexpected setbacks etc but you have still came back and are willing to try again and for that I am thinking you should be so proud of yourself.
Think of the song: i get knocked back down but I get up again!
The main thing is you are in the process of getting back yup again so dont be so harsh on yourself. I am going to subscribe to your diary and track your progress.
Good luck hun you CAN do it!!

Do you know what, I really missed this sense of community on here.
It's really lovely to know that I can do this, and that there are people around who I don't even know, and they are giving me support.
I'm actually quite touched. Have already started my debt busting - I had a NSD yesterday, sold my old phone on Ebay and made £20 and met a friend for lunch at Cafe Rouge and used a 50% off voucher that I had lying around.:j
I think one of the main reasons why I stopped was because I was scared of failing and more importantly, I was scared of what people might think if I failed. I'm only 24, and I really didn't want to live my life counting every penny, and when my wages dropped and I had to pay my substantial MOT, I just thought- !!!!!! it, I'll do it some other time. I still fought on, but I really want to do this now.Goals for 2010 - pay off £3160 debt. Come on Pamela!0 -
I have only been on MSE for a few weeks and already I feel like part of a family!so I know what u mean.Only thing is im on here constant lol looking for new diaries to subscribe to and find new ways to do things quicker which means everthing else is a blur lol Ive just turned 21 and have a 14 month old and I just thought !!!!!! it I need to stop minimum payments cos im getting no where!
So have joined the PAD challenge and so far have paid out £30 that I normally wouldnt have and would have usually just squandered so even in 3 days I feel some achievement
Too scared to start my own diary but I will once Im back on level pegging and not arrears.
thanks again u truelly can do it and Its about how u feel bout u not how others do that should count. I liked your half and half idea, thats good as an incentive.
