    Morning fellow-MSErs.

Had a lovely lovely weekend visiting two old friends - one who I've known since primary school, and the other since university. It was so lovely, exactly what I needed, and though I overspent by £50  I feel it was totally worth it.

Of course, it leaves me right to the wire until Friday, which is, thank the Lord and all his cherubs, payday. I'm expecting a bit more this month because of overtime and things like that, but I can't tell how much that's going to be, so I'm hoping my budget isn't too messed up. That's today's great plan - rejig the budget so it works and apart from posting something I sold on Amazon, I shall NOT be spending any money :rotfl:

Something happened to me while I was away that was both disheartening and gave me focus all at the same time. The friend who I've known since primary school has a bigger salary than me, and her OH is a solicitor on megabucks. They've just moved in together in this gorgeous gorgeous flat, and they have everything you might think of. Money really isn't an object with them, and while I'm sure they budget, there is a lot more freedom than mine.

In one way, it was really disheartening, because I looked around at all the gorgeous furniture, the books, DVDs, TVs, and saw her lovely fashionable clothes, and I wanted that. It made me feel envious (not jealous, but envious) of that kind of lifestyle, and it was quite hard.

But on the other hand, it really renewed my focus to knuckle down and get all this debt cleared. Then I can have one month where I can go out and buy nice things before I start on the long road for a deposit for my own house. Anyone else had this experience?

Glad you had a good weekend, I'd definately say the £50 overspend is worth it for something like visiting old friends. I'd rather have a bit of an overspend every now and then and be enjoying life rather than being miserable but paying off the debts early!

Well done on the Amazon sale, it's another £5 to last you until Friday! I wish my payday was that soon. I have to wait 25 days *sob* :p

I know the envious feeling, but oddly, it's for different reasons! Even though I don't want to be in their position just yet, I'm envious of my friends who have their own place and a baby and stuff. I'm fed up of uni and flat-sharing and a part-time job etc. I want my own house and family! But anywho!

    Positive Thinking!

We WILL get rid of this debt! Then go on a mini shopping spree, then start saving! :j

    Thanks Zig,

I'm an incredibly positive person but I think sometimes the issue is trying to fit too many things in, and then getting frustrated when they don't come off. A bit of a Jack of all trades, master of none approach.

Which is why I'm taking this week to really get my head in gear. It is already 1.30pm and I haven't had any chocolate yet :A which will be good for the diet. I've done some washing and organising, which is good for the housework, and I've been for a run, which is good for my health and my mental well-being. I am now feeling a lot more positive!

I also save 20 ps and went into my piggy bank to see exactly how much I had, and reached exactly £10, which means I can take it to the post office to get changed, which will pay for posting my Amazon sales and my dad's father's day present, which I bought last week, before I was skint! :rotfl:

    Hmm,

In a bit of a quandary. Managed to bag some freelance work for tonight, not sure how much I'll make, but it's likely to be around £50 or so.

I'm going to do it, of course, but the problem is that I had a lovely evening planned for my and the OH - went and bought some wine and nice food and it was all going to be so lovely. Obviously, that hasn't quite worked out. It's no big deal, but I had just wanted it to be just us tonight, really concentrate on us. Things are fine, but I just feel I've been a wee bit preoccupied, what with going away the last few weeks and all the stuff going on with work. I wanted to take tonight to say sorry and be nice. :D

This freelancing thing came in and it's worth a bit of money, but more so for my career. I feel like a rotten girlfriend for accepting it and now I don't know what to do

Oh how I love PAYDAY :j

Got paid today, substantially more than I was expecting :j. I thought I would get more than normal, but I am v surprised at this amount - £200 more;). A bit concerned because I haven't been in work this week, so can't check my payslip. Don't want to get too carried away just yet, but if it is true, I definitely deserve a trip to the shops. I'm not going to go mad, but I really really need new work clothes, so might buy a new top/trousers, and then that will be it :rotfl: If not, then I'll be gutted!

On the plus side though, since today is payday, I'm hitting the debt busting with my usual payday fervour. I just paid off my Littlewoods account of £140!!!

I'm really pleased with myself, because it's one more debt gone. I've paid off three large debts since I joined this board, and though I've still got three to go, I'm phenomenally grateful to the people who have helped keep me on the straight and narrow.

Not had a good day today. Got told off in work for something, which I think was a bit unfair, but took it on the chin :o

Means that all I've eaten all day is chocolate. Still, the extra money in my pay packet will go a long way, so I've called the bank and asked them to reduce my overdraft limit by £50. Hopefully the day can only get better:rolleyes:

    Congratulations!

Well done on paying off another debt! You've done so well, won't be long until you're debt free! :j

Rubbish you got told off in work, makes you feel about this big doesn't it! Ah well, you got paid more than you though so woo hoo! Fingers crossed it's yours to keep, ay!

Reducing the overdraft is a good plan. I have a student account and was considering asking if they can lower mine but 1. I don't know if they can, and 2. I kinda want it there as emergency, even though I have no intention of using it once it's paid off!

    Well done again!

    Hi Zig,

Thanks very much, it seems the money is mine to keep!!! Which means the new pair of work trousers can be mine, all mine, (evil laugh;)).

I'm not going to splash out, by any means, but I really do need some new work clothes, so that's task 1. Task 2 is to rejig my budget accordingly and see if I can make some more headway on my debts! :T

I'm off to pour myself a well-deserved glass on wine

    I love Sundays :j

Had a lovely lie-in this morning, and then went shopping. Really had to get some work clothes because I was starting to look v shabby and my job requires me to look professional, so I knew I had to do something. Went to Dorothy Perkins and got a pair of trousers and a waistcoat in the sale, as well as a lovely pink shirt. Spent £52 in total,, which is obviously a lot, but I really needed it. I've decided not to beat myself up about it too much because I did get paid more than normal so it was unexpected money, and I was crying out for new work gear.

Going to sit down now and work out what to do with the extra dosh. Reduced my overdraft by £50 and spent £50 today, so I've got about £100 left. Don't know whether to pay some more stuff off or to stick it in my easy-access savings account because my car is due its MOT in Sept and it will prob need quite a bit done. Going to have a think and then go out for a run! :T
