VANQUIS and Credit Limit Raises
Comments
-
That's an intersting thought. I've always thought of a credit report from a CRA and a SAR from a CRA as being equivalent. Ones a lot cheaper than the other, that's for sure. What information would a CRA hold about me other than what is contained in my credit report*?
*leaving aside historical archived material and of course good ole National Hunter....*
Lee if you look at the posts I put in Vanquis thread, they start half way down page 5 from memory, this explains what secret stuff cifas etc hold about you, along with Hunters, Experian DA, Synactics etc etc
Basically a SAR = Subject Access Request which entails them sending you a copy of everything they hold about you. A credit report is purely what Experian, Equifax or Call Credit have about you in relation to credit.
The other companies specifically deal with fraud and personal elements - not the actual credit element.
Hope that makes sense....... If you get refused for credit and your credit file looks ok then you SAR cifas and the other companies as it will be them that is affecting you, not necessarily your credit report.
Don't get confused about what I was saying you pay 2 quid for, that is for a SAR which includes your most recent credit report. It complicated to explain so best read the thread from page 5 onwards (4 pages) here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1482065&page=5
There are 7 companies to look out for, listed page 6 of Vanquis thread..... or here: #44

Hi nid,
Thanks for that. I like the template SAR letter @ post 117 here .
Have you done a SAR on Experian yourself and what sort of info did you find that was not included in your credit report? Obviously I'm not asking people to give away personal information. I'm just curious as to what is being held.0 -

Hiya Lee,
Template SAR is here: #117
It explains what to do and you delete the paragraph with the 2 pound bit if you SAR cifas/hunters cos they cost a tenner (#118 ). Obviously you amend the address to the ones shown here: #95
I've just sent mine last week so when I get them back i'll list what each does, for example if hunters have all personal stuff then i'll break it down and post it into categories - not personalised but categorised.
Will do it with the info I get back from all 7 companies - can't wait either!!!!
Apparently the ones from Equifax/experian are huge and some are over 500 pages!!!!!! Watch the vanquis thread for updates. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1482065&page=7
