  • You get my sense of humour well.

Dh and i sent a picture of the chos to his philospher dad today titled Existentialism. He didn't get it at first. Sigh.:o. Edit: and dh refuses to have surgery on his eyes because he wants a guide dog ithe future, he hopes his eyes will get a bit worse but not totally gone, He wants to call his dog 'matic'. As in here comes mr. Rates and dog matic.

    :rotfl:
So when a chicken stands, as they do, on one leg with its' head cocked to one side that's the existential attitude? ;)

We have often thought of getting chickens and a few people we know have them in an Eglu and they have been delighted with them although they have never tried a wooden one.

What puts me off is the fact they would only have access to an enclosed run if we owned some as there are a number of foxes around here.

Hope you're not too sad Alfie. You gave him a really good life.

My black cat is failing & I know he won't be here too much longer & I'm gonna be really blubbing when he goes. Animals eh? Who'd have 'em.

Well it's been really mild here - defo Spring - all the dickies singing & blackbirds chasing each other.

You lot is copping it down there! Goodness, roles reversed. Hope you're all coping & are toughening up a bit!:D Only kidding!

Spent an age attempting to list my clutter but finding it dragging & hard to get photos up....might have an early night.

Last night, or rather this morning at about 2am a helicopter was going back & forwards over the caravan - must of been serching the Loch? Haven't heard owt today so must be okay.

Had roast cockerel for tea..........very, very tasty. OH did all the deeds, so that was easy!

My fast tomatoes are up and away! :D

The frost has gone, so it's outdoor water back on and then some work on the plants today, hopefully! :)
  • WHY DO I DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

went to an open viewing for a house going to auction next month ( we have seen the outside a few times as its near our friend's livery stables).

I shouldnt have gone, as i totally fell in love with it:o.....bucket fulls of work needed ( and money..lol..)

but when we were looking round, the staircase and the layout on the landing was exactly the same as an old cottage we lived in when i was younger, and there was a huge pile of vinyl lps... all rock music...motley crew, twisted sister, saxon, iron maiden, ufo, ( totally our style of music)

when we came home, i told hubby i felt totally at ease and at home in the house, and i thought the rock albums 'were a sign':rotfl:... but he told me not to get my hopes up,:o the thing is i know he right....

this is the house with the jap knotweed in the area ..

Anyone got about 30k to lend me:rotfl: as this is how much we are short for the est guid price....( but i think it will go for alot more than the guide price:o)

Its sooooooooooooooooo bl00dy frustrating, can get a business mortage for 91k, but yet i cant get a personal mortgage due to my work status...:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

And to top it all, they start work on the supermarket in march:o

CTC maybe others will be put off by the knotweed and the bids will be low. Hard as it is just keep thinking that, whats for you won't go by you.

I'm helping a friend at a craft fair today, I love helping her as it is so relaxing and it is giving me a chance to get a feel for things as I am considering (many years from now) a wee venture of my own.

Awww, CTC. Rummer's right, don't be too despondent. As much as you love that property, there's plenty to put off prospective purchasers, so you could be in with more of a chance than you think. We had totally covnced ourselves we wouldn't be able to buy the one we did.

The thing with auction is, you've no idea until the day really. We had an informal survey, paying a local surveyor for an hour of his time. He gave us a really good idea of the sort of buyer we might be up against and what the property was worth now and when we do it up. He was pretty close to the mark. He gave us a ceiling above which we shouldn't bid. We paid more for it than we would have liked to and if the one buyer that wanted it very much too hadn't been there, bidding against us, we would have got it for £40K less! (It was still 15K lower than the ceiling though). We also spoke to the neighbours and the village talk meant we knew exactly who was likely to be bidding against - and apparently, he was very well off :(

What a difference that 40K would make to our plans for the refurb, but at least we've got the place, so it'll just take more time....

    I've been Money Tipped!
No grand thaw today here. The hose thawed enough...or hadn't frozen enough, to be unrolled and the troughs filled from the feed room taps, once the main was turned on again. Off again now.

We're frost free, the water's back on and there's more wet stuff falling from the sky just now.

We went to a Garden Centre this morning and I almost needed sedatives when I saw the price of the plants, especially trees. I wonder how many people pay £40 for a fairly ordinary tree in a 7 litre pot? We must go and buy some bare root ones pretty soon now.....from a proper nursery, of course. :)

I've already commented on property that got away. This was another one of mine, and it got away twice; once in 2006, and again in 2008, when it was £15k cheaper:

    http://www.zoopla.co.uk/property-history/brynheulog/llanfair-clydogau/lampeter/sa48-8la/5142161

Why was it so cheap? The Crash was gathering speed, the person who'd bought in 2006 had overreached themselves, and two years on they were 'in need of an urgent sale.'

In the end it made no difference that I failed to spot it in time. Within weeks we were on the market again ourselves, our second buyer having pulled out.

There are a few lessons in there, somewhere.;)
