We've seen several wild fires over the years from the caravan. Across the bay on Llanbedrog Head, was scary to watch as very close to some cottages. And it re-started a couple of times too over the next days.

Plus at Mynytho on the heath there (not sure if National Trust) a few years ago too.

Think all prob were down to human intervention (not necessarily meant) or litter (glass acting as lenses maybe if not ciggie butts). I have to confess I am still a smoker, but I am very careful always to make sure butts are extinguished completely. Have to as usually stick in my pocket to not litter, so I'd set myself on fire if not fully out! :rotfl:

Wildfires here last year caused a load of scary moments, but it's down to bad management of the ground & undergrazing.

Had a time today with strange sheep behaviour - Hebredian with wenlock wedged on its head - had to wait for OH to come home so we could hack saw it off - It was a tree protector that I'd made 2 years previously. She's fine & quite pally now but i thought she'd break a leg at one point - took the two of us to free her from the cage of it9One to hold, t'other to saw) - charging about the croft with it on & scaring the other sheep....

Yep ...... but the NT has a habit of acquiring land & then not doing anything with it. We don't see anyone working on the land - woods, pasture or scrub from one year to the next. :(

I have been learning to spin and I am trying hard to learn about the fleece qualities of different breeds of sheep :D. Hoping that when I can finally buy a wheel that I can spin rare breed wools to support them.
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • Oooo :D I always fancied spinning. Rummer. I considered trying it when we had angora goats but never did. By the time I'd clipped them (like shearing a cross between a sheep & a snake :rotfl:) I decided I didn't want to see another 'fleece' for the year :D
What sort of wheel are you thinking of getting?
  • Hi all,

I would love to have a go at shearing a sheep:D, used be a dog beautician for about 15 years.... and travel all round the country showing dogs ( done a far wack of judging too) I should imagine it like like clipping a stinky, mega matted old english sheep dog or a bichon frease sp? ooooo those were the days...lol..

think i am going to have a stressfull 2 days, we have one of buyers over from Africa, flip they are demanding and want the world so to speak, and are VERY fussing ....and they allways change the plans and guidelines:mad: Flip i am not looking forawrd to it...

( JUST KEEP THINKING OF THE MONEY...MONEY....MONEY!!!!!!)

Anyway enough of me moaning (lol....thats all i do lately)

Since the fox incident, the ducks put themselves to bed the same time as the chickens, it used to be they would be out and you would have to round them up to put them in, Looks as though it has really shaken them up..
