Rozzee, measure the floor space of all the derelict outhouses stores etc, we did ours so when we went to planning to get a large agricultural shed there was absolutely no complaint from them, as we already had the same volume onsite0

As you may recall, we already have an L shaped bungalow - actually, just found a pic here http://www.eigroup.co.uk/imagelib/lotphotos/jnf/20111125/18.pdf - we'll have to go the dormer route to use the upstairs space. I'm gonna contact a couple of other architects today too. Let's see what they have to say.
It's hard to really suggest anything when you can't see the place in situ & get a feel for what would work but my first thought was extend forward from the garage to match the other "wing". Whether you reinstate part as a garage or use the space for living would depend on choice, availability of other outbuildings & so on.
Then, maybe, consider the dormer option for the central run at the front. If your best views are at the front then I'd dormer the back & think about large glass doors leading on to a central balcony for the front.
However, that may all look totally out of place & crap when seen in context:D

The pears have arrive, and I'm trying to decide which order in the row to plant the in. Logic says latest croppers in the middle (nearest the back door) but logic is balanced by aesthetics.....I think the beautiful stripey humbug should be nearst the front of the house and the road and that the reddish beurre hardy and sensation should be balanced either side of the row of six, and then there is winternellis who is meant to be less vigourous, but the latest pear, if HE is in the middle rather than an end he might make the thing look a little weak in the middle..............
I'm in awe of people womake decisions easily.
god help me, I'm buying the rest of the fruit trees next year ROFL0 -

What you can't see on the pic is there's a large offshot to the rear of the gargae so it looks at the mo like it might be best to knock that down and rebuild larger and then remodel the garage, above the garage and the new build into the annexe, probably as a separate unit from the house (subject to other comments about the expense re council tx etc about a separate building).
The saving grace about a larger dormer out back is that that's where the woodland and stream are, so I'm hoping we're going to get plenty of birds and other wildlife to enjoy.0 -

Same as here then. The dormers on our cottages had to not be visible from outside the property.rozeepozee wrote: »Ideally, I'd love a balcony to the front as that's where the country and sea views are but I don't think they'll buy it and I think it might blow our budget - practicalities have to take priority...

If that's the most private side that would be better for a balcony, anyway. You can always plan in the possibility for one at a later date when funds & time allow.0 -
