well, its an odd feeling...I've done everything I can inoors, turned chook lights on and have to wait for it to get lighter before can do the ret of morning chores. Mondays are normally hectic, because also have to fit in rnning dh to the station, but I've had time for a mint tea and a sit down.
I put heavy weights on the ol horses at the weekend, but if day time temps are still 9 degrees I've been premature. Its ok now, they aren't too hot, but its in a month or so when its bitter an I've not got enough to add to their wrdrobes.0 -
I agree. They're always revising predictions.
We went to the local Fatstock Show today, which was a sensible thing to do, bearing in mind that it rained most of the day.
Pete had one of his wife's Kune Kunes there with 13 piglets, as something for the kids (& adults!) to look at and go "Ahhhh..!" He also brought some sheep, which were later auctioned-off.
I'm not sure that the Show was as varied and well-supported as it was last year, but maybe the weather put some people off. I hope
that's all it was, because these events are part of the area's heart & soul.
Ahhhhhhh:DWork to live= not live to work0 -
having a morning off work, to do a bit of shopping.
couldnt think of what to buy my mil and my parents... last year i bought them a m&s hamper ( at a great price due to a glitch) .
I am going to make my own hampers for them, so i am going to dunelm mill to buy some lovely wicker baskets, and then nip to m&s to buy some nice things... like red salmon, chutneys, 'posh' biscuits
I have got a £10 m&s which is the last one left from when my mum introduced us to sky ( we stopped our sky for a few months, so were then classed as a new custoner;))
so once the morning rush our has gone i will be off on my toddles... gone to hate shopping in big shops now....lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -

We can but hope!
We've had a bit of everything this morning. Sun, rain, hail which laid briefly like snow on the hilltops inland. We're only a few hundred metres from the coast so normally (the last 2 winters have been far from normal) even snow doesn't hang around too long just here.
At the moment it's fairly still & I'm hoping it's not the proverbial calm before ..........0 -
Well, managed to get a few hours hedging in before it turned grey & wet.:( Better go out now and check everything's as secure as it can be.
Our new chicken shed comes tomorrow! This one's going to be 10' x 6' with a door in the middle, ventilation 'windows either side of it and a pop hole on each end. I wasn't expecting it before Christmas, so I won't be putting down the foundations for a while.
The first thing it will get is 3 coats of Creocote.0 -

its just turning now her after the most beautiful day. no rain yet, but a sudden dankness afer the clear blue of the daylight. Chicken and peacocks had all put them selves away with the wether change about 45 mins ago, so I got outside done early. Because we still have loads of grass the hay nets for the horses are lastig well, so no need to do a serious ''lates'' round...I just stick my head out and check that they areall there and ok...but mainly don't see them a they are all scattered at the far end of the field. so, fed supper t the oldies at 3 (no one else needs it yet.)0 -
ok...so its hit now. still, its milkd: its water rather than ice ATM.0

With all the old stuff we buy, sometimes its needs repair.
So had managed to get going an old swiss music box (:)) and there was another in last weeks buys that had seized up. Very carefully eased out the boxwood top lining to expose the Thorens workings. For an hour moved the tiny fly-part (!?) clockwise with my finger, using WD40 to ease cogs, rewarded by the occasional ding as the music drum rotated.
Then hallelujah! The fly-part thingy started to spin on its own, the music drum started to revolve powered by the coiled spring. Almost got the tune then bang!!. The spring shattered in its drum.:(:(:(:(
