  • 40 of us in something over 1500 acres of parish. Sheep must outnumber us about 100 to 1 at least :D
Snap, We now have 6 permanent homes in the main hamlet but that includes 2 barn conversions (done around 1990), 2 second homes & a NT owned cottage. No street lights here.
We may not get a gritter but they chuck half a sack containing salt down outside the gate so it;s a sort of DIY job :D
Referring to your post on the other thread. We missed the big snow of 86/87 as we moved in later that year. No electricity for 6 weeks, I believe. Apparently the previous owner used to teatray down to the pub :rotfl:
Until 2 winters ago we seldom saw snow & none that hung around for long. Too close to the coast.

my one bonus here is im 2 miles from town BUT if you looked around from my gates ,you could be in the middle of nowhere. i can see my nearest neighbour if i look out of my bedroom window but only just. there are no street lights so the stars here are amazing. im 1mile fom acually setting foot on the forest but closer as the crow flies. my "village" [1 mile up the road] has about 10/12 houses, a village school and .......thats it ! oh a little tiny church.... :)

ive just had a thought...if i ask for street lighting [near not outside!] does that mean mains elec will be closer for me to get attatched to ?? OR is it worth the sacrifice ? could always invest in a catapault ? :D

Our area got 'lectrickery in 1969. I'm told it was switched on by Cliff Michelmore & Jean Metcalfe. Those are blast from the past names, eh? :rotfl:

Now we're older it would be nicer to live somewhere within walking distance of some sort of amenities. Another reason, apart from downsizing from a large property with 2 people rattling round in it, to move.

they can put mains power in the road with street lights, meaning i "could" be connected to mains too [i dont have mains] then so it doesnt ruin my sky light i could accidentally aim a catapault in the bulbs direction........

:rotfl: I get what you mean now. Sorry, obviously having a thick moment.:o

Keep the side of your face with the offending tooth as warm as you can, alfie. It may help ease the pain a little. Night night.

Right, I'm off to bed, too. Hope everyone has as good a night as possible given their circumstances.

:rotfl: Not apply just keep warm!
I wouldn't advise anyone, even without an infection, to sleep with their face on a hot water bottle

    evening all.
ive survived another day....:o NOW iam REALLY fed up !

i took old lady to hospital for her pre assesment for a pacemaker..didnt realise it would take 2 1/2 hours but not her fault.. i was sat there in agony as id forgotten to take with me my "numbing gel" :(
got back, fetched big dog for the weekend and then took albert to the vet.he is so good for the vet, just sits there and lets him take the stitches out and he was so delighted with the result...so am i. he is the most compassionate caring vet iv ever come across. you can tell he is 100% for welfare. its a tiny vets rural practise. [like a james herriot reincarnation :) ] so much better than these big concerns that need to look at a computer to even tell them what gender the animal is and charge you for every f*rt !!:D

LIR....your PM is full AGAIN....stop being so bl**dy popular !!

anyway, im gonna have a hot soak.
i hope the weather has been kind to everyone. its been 4-9 degrees today and was icy/frosty first thing this morning :(

    Alfie,

Root canal work isnt pleasant but its far better than a raging toothache!

Had a cream cake and trifle tea with all 5 grandkids, just lovely, if a bit frazzling.

Been busy listing, selling and packing on Ebay, the vintage clothes selling well :) Just bought possibly the strangest item yet at auction, a Bristow Smart Faradic apparatus that was boxed and used in Calcutta. And two broderie anglaise christening gowns, c1900-1920?, so pretty.

But no eggs for 4 weeks now :(
