don't is kune kunes. They re a good pig for people who like grass/run other animals....they graze rather than snuffley plough. IF we were to get a pair of pigs it woul have to be kunes (but I secretly want alfie's mabel!)
thats handy to know :D! someone else to pander to her every whim ! :rotfl:
tesco donuts in her breakfast feed ?? prefers the chocolate or custard... :D and bannanas...loves em !:D grapes :D ......

  • What breed is mabel, alfie?
We used to keep various pot-bellied pigs before they became Yuppy pets. When we started to get nutters wanting to keep them inside ("We've seen them on the telly & they're soooooo cute") we stopped breeding them.

well she's HUGE, white and was bought as a "pet" little pig !! the farmer must have been very convincing/buyers very thick to believe that the cute little piggy was not going to grow into a pony size critter ! i got her at 4 months old as a rescue.... she's 3 now and approx 5/6ft long, 4ft high and about 2ft wide !!!!

p.s. LIR. my friend has just had to have her vietnamese pot belly [maudie] put to sleep. she was 10. her sister is very sad at the mo !
  • We had the opposite problem. Everyone saw the cute little piggies & we had to invite them to see Dad. All 25 stone, head more than a foot square, of him. :rotfl:

He was lovely but developed a bit of a distrust of men which made vet visits interesting :D
That was the fault of the Yuppies again. Remember when some idiot took their pig walkabout in London & they brought in the law that you had to have a harness to move them?
Well, the boar was less than a year old at that time so not fully grown. We duly bought a bull harness because you never know when you may have to move them.
OH put the harness on & wee wee wee wee. Pig was really put out & shot round in circles on the end of the harness rope. It was like watching a chairoplane :D The boar never fully trusted males again. I had a few bemused vets who'd approach him gingerly with boards & jump like hell when he barked at them. I'd say "Come on you,, what ya playing at" & the pig would come across & roll onto his back to have his belly rubbed.
Something I've found all pigs go weak at the knees for :)

Hope the tooth thing works out okay Alfie - swishing your mouth out with Brandy or just swigging it helps.

The water that's fallen this past while is unbelievable even for here. The ground is like porridge & there's water running down the croft in miny rivulets all over the place. There is flooding over on the East coast - glad we live on a slope!

The tops are all white as it has hailed & snowed a bit but non lying on the ground on the croft apart from tiny patches - last year we were snowed in on the 28th Nov. Quite nasty half dark dreich days - almost dark at 3.30pm.

Sorry about all the pig talk - we are about to sit down to a roast pork dinner!

The mini pets thing eh? The tutus fopr dogs & crystal encrusted bowls? Don't get me started I'll do a Jeremy Clarkson - well no I won't as I can't stand the bigot.

Hope you're all cosy & warm & not too uncomfy with aches & pains.

Vets do it on a version of this, alfie. Ours was weighed on the same one they use for horses, I think.
The problem is often getting animals to stand still long enough to get a reasonably accurate measure

    Hope the tooth improves soon
