well, that's a turn up for the books!

the tree surgeon who dod the ones we couldn't do last year just turned up with a small trailer of chippings....a fraction of what we need, but he wanted somewhere to dump them and has no storage, I suggestted that he keep bringing them here, and when we have enough for our use he can keep stroing them here for resale, after we get enough for our annual usual each year.....sounds fair doesn't it? TBH, I can use a fair amount each year in the barn, and then he can fill one of the yards, and we can use it as a riding/lunging surface :)....and otherwise he has problems with disposal, so its win win for both of us so far as I can see. :)

Its a shame I don't have one of you handy gents near by to come and look at these things with me. I am still looking at old ones, bearing in mind in the future there will be underfloor heating, its dh's study so hopefully the thing will only be used 8 weekends a year or so, but will be pretty all year round.

Our current woodburner is one of the good purportedly (clear view I think its called)....and I just hate it.:o
Ahh well, I may not be the best person to take with you, I got carried away and bought an old woodburner, which turned out to have faults, I should have known better....
So I sold it on ebay and made a £100 loss, not one of my best things ever :o

I also went to see some chinese imported ones and was far from impressed.
So I went for a new one, which had good reviews, from a decent make, but I looked at it first, which is getting more difficult to do.

Clearview is supposed to be a good make, but I've never used one.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

Good luck to all dentist visitors.

Well, it looks like I had some, though my new dentist is a man.:( Still, very thorough exam, and an immediate appt for tomorrow to fill a tooth, quick scale, x-rays......all done & dusted for £47. I couldn't get the last one to do the exam for that! :D

Mind you., I'm used to Palladian architecture, real antiques and a blue plaque with the legend 'Here lived David Livingstone,' or more recently, a petite Polish blonde who comes out with crackers like, "You have such verrrry strong gums!" :A

    Meanwhile....

Back here, two more sheep were stuck in the fences when we did the rounds tonight. Why on earth don't they make sheep netting that the stupid animals can't get their heads through? Because I had to go free them up, I was just too late to escape the sudden, extremely fierce squall that kicked in from nowhere, drenching me in 30 seconds. It was as if someone just turned all the lights out at 16:30. I'm not enjoying the changed clocks.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes. We wont mention the £80 lot (though a ltd. ed. Caithness paperweight and other nice glassware rescues it) but a £10 large junk lot is throwing up all sorts of interesting little goodies thanks to all your good vibes.

So here's just ONE of the MANY(!!) items in the junk lot. Clockwork mechanism, still working, back rusting but sound, embroidered face. What age and do you like it?

OK, spoken to friend who saw the adverts. They are for lease or loan (she can't remember) and this is the part which concerns me. Even if you can get them for free there is no long term security for them in this instance.
