I think it's because there are such stringent laws about waste disposal. If you had just picked the bits you wanted and thrown the rest over a fence and it could be proved the film company were involved, they are the ones who would pick up a potentially huge tab. I know it sounds mean and they could have handled it better.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

I'm almost back, but there are still glitches on the 'puter after taking it to hell & back to get rid of this infection.:( The elbow is better though,
but I've broken a tooth biting too hard on my pen when into the frantic final stages of killing the bug this am.:o No pain, except that of knowing that it'll cost half the price of a computer to fix it!
Now I can get Google , I've discovered on related forums that others have had even more grief than me in the last few days. I see some blaming it on a fake Adobe update, and I've certainly had updates recently, but I don't usually study them. Does anyone? It wouldn't be a difficult interface to copy, but I really don't know.
Anyway, nice to be almost properly back here.:) Things are very damp and squidgy at our place, with the stream clearly audible from the yard. That's the first time it's run properly since the end of the snow, I think.
Still getting toms from the polytunnel and mange-touts from the garden. We have sacrificed some of the peppers, but I reckon we might manage to keep the bulk of the remaining ones going for another month or so inside the conservatory. My tomato cuttings have plenty of fruit on them, but the aim of toms at Christmas might be a bit ambitious!
Choille, that's disgusting about the film set wood. Any chance of a little piece in the local rag? You never know where the sympathy vote might lead!0 -

There used to be a time when you wouldn't see rubbish in lay bys in Devon, as even the verges were cleaned regularly, but it's not like that any more.
I shall shortly to be looking at a pile of old Onduline roofing sheets. Do I take them to the tip like a good bunny, having first placed them in fertilizer sacks, to be charged at £2 each, or should I wait for a really wet, west-windy day and have a bloody great bonfire? After all, Mr Dog has been a bit of a pain recently.
No, I've got it, someone tell me how I can get on the books of a NHS dentist and go to the tip and pay up!0 -
I've not been around as too knackered from family life.
Yesterday saw Fox both morning and evening, today not seen at all.
OH planted 80 garlic cloves just over a week ago, and today planted the rest we had - another 102! We gave 10 bulbs to friends too, and I think 6 bulbs to my wonderful Counsellor. I love buying in bulk for garlic - it's lovely stuff to grow, and everybody likes to have some of the harvest!
Lots of long tail tits around, though usually flying over and not landing in our garden. Blue tits in spades, and a lot of coal tits too. Am really enjoying watching the birds when I go to the kitchen bifold doors for my smoke... This is a no smoking house, which is difficult for me as a smoker! OH allows me to sit at open kitchen bifold door to smoke as am too incapable to get up the garden to the shed.
We have saffron crocuses coming up, but I think they're getting slugged (or possibly squirreled!) as the flowers seem to disappear rather fast.
Urm there was stuff I wanted to comment on but need to get to bed - sorry!0 -
Dave - try the dental hospital near you?
You're right about fly tipping - it's getting bad here although it's really a Summer past time & mostly holiday makers with bags getting chucked out of cars. One does wonder however why some one should drive miles into fabulous countryside & leave a manky mattress propped up against a tree or in a passing place.
Builder's & businesses with business waste have to pay at the skip sites to dump but ordinary house holders can dump free still.
See your onduline is it still okayish as I'd free cycle it - we got some off a neighnour & roofed a shed. We also made a lamb shelter out of several sheets of it. As you can no doubt deduce I chuck little out.0 -
Hi Maggie - I stopped the fags the other year & glad as I couldn't afford it now plus don't want to smoke in the new house when we eventually move in. I got massive help off the stop smoking thread on here - sorry don't mean to preach.
We too have a load of birds -the long tail tits seem to appear in droves & chitter away up the birch trees getting insects? then move on - this is newish for us - last two years unless i didn't notice them prior to that.0 -

!
I'm also not meaning to nag, but someone I know gave up smoking last year....the improvment in her ME has been significant...she doesn't really notice how much more she's getting done, but all of us who know her are....we think its something to do with oxygen uptake being enhanced.
I gave up smoking the easy way...I just gave up, cold turkey and was lucky enough not to find it too hard. Going into a coma was a bit of a help avoiding relapsing though:D0 -
Well in that case I wouldn't feel safe to bid.
Been out just now & there are a zillion stars out, very clear & sharp night. Great to have no mega floodlights polluting the night sky - really glad they've gone.0 -

If my Onduline was OK I wouldn't be stripping it off! When it gets old, or if it's installed badly with big gaps between the fixings, it distorts in the heat, sags and then falls in on itself. This might not be the real article either.
Dental hospital???? That means students! Still, looking on the bright side, 50% would be younger than me & female.0
