choille...let me know when yr listing?

i had my sheep sheared again last saturday, a lot of fly strike about and even tho i put the "pink stuff spray" down thier back, thier coats were getting so thick i wasnt positive it was working to the max ...so off came thier coats again ! in the spring i would say thier coats are about 9" depth !

iv spent all day at home in the garden today, cleaned animogs, piled up a good bonfire [weekend burn job] moved my oil tank, pruned, mowed, raked and generally didnt stop...i can now also sit in my verandah without feed sacks, bicycle and buckets too.
needless to say im a tad tired now !!

im getting very good feedback re my dress hire so fingers crossed

The new ride-on's battery won't charge, so I had to cut the grass by brushcutter and Flymo yesterday, before today's rain made it even longer. :(

On the fruit front, the plums have been doing well, but a couple of branches have broken under the weight and the hens are now reaching some of the lower ones. DD2 picked what she could on her day off and stoned them, ready for freezing. (She's a good girl!:A) Here's a photo, but that's only a fraction of our crop:

We seem to be just treading water ATM. Visitors tomorrow and then a plant event at the weekend. No time for polytunnel or sorting out permanent quarters for our two 'pet' Australorps. I even had to buy some eggs yesterday, as our working hens seem to be having a moult and have slowed down. Customers come first!

Everyone tells you yo'll be needing loads of egg recipes when yo get chickens. Very few people also tell you to keep yor eyes open for eggless ones, bt it happens.

I bought eggs at the weekend to bake with......visiting NPs/vets/ and also cake with whcih to provide visiting neighbours with tractors....

Very impressive, the more so since we lost our greengage crop to botrytis :(

OTOH our pear trees are doing well and I need to read up on when to pick and how to store/use them.

Pouring down atm, so no garden work possible. Instead continuing to research passive solar heating, might even be making a bit of progress..we'll see.

Pouring here too. Had a conversation with the vets this morning about last weeks incident with a rude vet and I feel a bit better. Senior partner was nice, and apologetic and assured me will NEVER be a problem again. He offered to get offending vet to call, but I suggested its in noone's long term interest and that we're both probably best stewing in our own juices till cooked and forgotten. Special girl celebrated being turned out with a canter...something she rarely does by choice, and also gave pony rides to visitors yesterday (she wasn't going to be left out thogh the other horses were volunteering). Last day of antibiotics for her, so next few days might be interesting. Still have little idea what was/is wrong, but its not bothering her so....

The rain at least means no fly veils today, which they prefer.

Citronella doesn't really make any difference when they are as bad as they are - some folks wear nets but I can't stand to have anything over my face. I'd be hopeless if I had to wear a burka!
Beautiful outdoors but still as a mill pond so stuck in my metal box.
We are contemplating getting a big fan as breezes shift them, but you'd have to trail it about & if it was electric then that would be restrictive.
Have to pick elderly neighbours up from rail station in Inverness later today - so may escape midgy valley & go over East early.

We didn't get all of ours either, but this is the first year it's fruited for us at all, so we weren't sure we had one.
