    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm always in awe of what rhiwfield and alfie find too davesnave.

I've not been to a furniture auction since I was a kid at college. There were decent things then....huge bedroom wardrobes of fantastic quality...bought as firwood because we don't have rooms big enough these days. I'm hoping I'll get furniture that way in the future for the things we don't have. And some nice pictures. for people who like art we don't have anything ''nice''.

Not a single complaint from publicv about our planning. No nimbys here. :)

from experience they might settle on a man made floating island but they need to have some sort of ramp as NO,they wont get on a platform without hepl. i doubt they would use a "house" as they prefer to be able to see around. also geese will prefer to be on land at night rather than water. in fact they [ours] spend approx 80% on land !! so not sure you can rely on them to make THEMSELVES fox/predator proof !

your "spelling" is catching .... hepl =help..... yours..."we'd like to let them have the CAKE to swim in" ....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

sigh. There goes the ambition to have a floating duck house!

They DO seem to want to sleep outside, but its just not safe enough. If I could trust them on a platform in summer it would be something, but I just don't believe I could. I'd like to take them down to the pond for a swim but a bit worried I might not get them back!

Thank you very much....we'll go back to looking at something more prosaic but safer!

As I've said before, I remember teapots using those spouts (which people also fitted to taps) in the 1960s, though that doesn't date them.

Spent yesterday cutting as much grass as I could. (Rain didn't arrive till midnight)......Did a lot, but it's never enough! :(

Would people fit things to the spout because they had chipped it?

Rain arrived here at 08:00 today and seems to be stopping now - I just hope it will not split the plums & greengages.

I think getting rid of the brambles will eventually remove cover for the foxes. Poor things. There is a really good thick hedge between the summer and winter grazing (about twelve feet) so they can move there and we won't disturb them, but I'll feel better when they are further from choocks and yard.

Besides which, means the hunt won't want to ride through ever, as the traditional cover here will be gone :)

Until then I'll just take them down sometimes, and open the gate on the occasional day when I know I have time to faff about and wait for them to want to come home!

I think I was down near alfie earlier this week, we visited the rufus stone on the way through, or the box around it anyway :D Had a lovely holiday, now it's back to waist high grass and overripe tomatoes.
