Welcome to Alexelisey, whose words, 'the property market has gone against us' rang a few bells! Where would you like to move to Alex, or are you 'flexible,' like we were?

Thanks for the welcome Dave! We were originally looking down your way but we just can't afford it, even Wales is looking more expensive these days compared to when we started looking in 1992.

We're settled on where we're going but it's not easy at all to achieve it :rotfl:I won't say where just yet, but I'll keep you all posted when we're ready. For now I'm working full-time in freight forwarding (we import wine but sadly no samples!) to clear my credit card, pay for the honeymoon and start to save up for things.

In the meantime one of our ex-battery hens died today, so in two years we've gone from four to one. But they've had a good life with us - plenty of space, sun on their backs, treats... so it's not all bad. I hope this last one won't be too lonely! As we're so close to getting the house finished I don't want to get any more. There's too much to do in the garden still.

That's it from me for tonight, I start work early and have to cross the river so I have to get to bed earlier than I'd like. One day, when I rise at dawn and go to bed at dusk... *dreams* :jNight all!

    Afternoon!

I have been out weeding in the garden this morning with a friend who kindly came round to help me and keep me company so we got a lot of pots cleared of weeds and one of the large beds too. So I am feeling a lot more optimistic about it.

Managed to borrow a strimmer and a pressure washer so we can get the "meadow" and the patio sorted.

Going to plant some salad in the pots and some fast growing beans so that we can have somethings to nibble on at least.

Hi folks, you probably don;t remember me , but I thought I'd give you an update on the house I'm building that you've forgotten hehehehe

Well... 4 weeks into our build now and we have the full kit/ frame up, half of the house has the roof up, the other half is an open plan living, kitchen, dining room, we're waiting on steals being delivered for a portal frame, then the joists for the open ceiling will be built. Hopefully we will get this done next week. I can't believe how quick things can go up!!!

Hope all the others building/ renovating are doing well too, for once the rain seems to be calming down in these here parts, which is a major help :) Only down side is a digger driver that drove through all my flowers and veggies, as it was quicker than moving another 20 feet, lazy git :( Folks just do your head in sometimes don't they!!!

KAZSCHOW.... great that your house is taking shape and the weather is in your favour...do you have any pics to share ?

LIR....have you cut hay this year or intend to ?? we cant decide wether theres enough in the bottom 10 acres to bother...but its going to be expensive this year me finks !! if you have/are let me know if you are selling any as i know/guess yours will be quality ! i mean i can picture you in flowing gown ,pimms in hand, driving the tractor awarding rosettes to the best bales !!:D :D

oh boy did the rain come down today, just when i was at the furthest point in the bottom field...waste of time trying to take shelter as it only took 30 seconds to reduce me to a resemblance of a kitchen mop !!:o

one of LIR's chooks she gave me is now officially called NELLY NO NECK. She has a neck, she just walks round with it pulled in for some reason !!:rotfl: maybe she feels shes gone down in the world ranking being with my lot...:rotfl:

my friends son has just bought an old army vehicle...it was used to pull the guns?? cant remember the correct name. its long and wide,BIG wheels. he took me for a ride in it today....oh WOW i SO want one !! brilliant for camping holidays...like an army version of a VW camper with NO mod cons tho !!:D we went up the lanes and as he said he's still getting used to the extra width which he proved as we swiped hedgerows [my side!] and generally put the fear of god up oncoming traffic....brilliant fun !!:rotfl:

Kazschow it must be exciting seeing progress being made! Shame about the flowers and veggies but you can make up for it next year when you have your new home all finished and are turning your thoughts to your outside space.

I'm not cutting this year, I swapped the cut for a favour. Shame, it would have been a decent price, I agree :(

No, I fell asleep earlier this afternoon then watched the Murdochs on tv. Not busy at all.

Tonight, for the first time, the geese had put themselves away before I went out. :)

I've been quiet because it's been busy this week. Yesterday we went on yet another run to our old garden, so that was the whole day taken up. We limped in with a humungous load of paving slabs, just in time to put the hens to bed, but happily, DD2 had done it for us. :)

Today, I unloaded half the slabs and a lot of old rubbish, potted-up some plants, cut part of the hedge and had a few hours off because we had two lots of visitors. While it wasn't a terrifically productive day, we are clear to bang on with a number of projects now....

No real rain here today, and surprisingly little yesterday, until we were safely loaded and on our way home. :D

Kaz, I remember you! ;) If my digger driver did that, he wouldn't be getting any more free duck food or corn. Mind you, he demolished his own gates by accident a few months ago, so I suppose anything's possible!
