PIGS..... they eat a lot :)...they need to eat a lot and at £10 a sack per week per pig plus fruit and scraps = lot of outlay, but not sure of incoming £'s... think piglets go for the chop [excuse pun!:D] at about 16 weeks... so you would have to weigh up all that ! with the exception of my mabel, they turf up ground they are on usually ! we've always said if mabel was going the way of the "reaper" she eats that much fruit she wouldnt need stuffing !!:D

LIR...im picking up goosegogs friday so can deliver or you can fetch thereafter....

CTC.... well done to your OH for remaining calm and gathering ammunition....:T

WISE OWL.....glad to hear chooks are doing better.

choille.... can you get a couple of highland cattle with HUGE horns on your land ??bet walkers would think twice crossing land then !!:D

ive had a funny day today, sorting out, cleaning out animogs... let barney and ruby into the mini's field as grass is shooting up and dont want them having too much... barney and ruby have gone from arch enemies to bosom buddies ... thick as thieves and glued to each other...fickle or what !!:)

got chatted up by a chap today which boosted my ego a bit ;) ...
AND i didnt see a white stick in his hand when he walked away ???:p

Missed that!..... but then I don't go around hovering my cursor all over the place! :p
On the other hand I've been cursing my hover (mower) for quite a while, so a replacement is a bonus, even if it is a 2003 model.

"Is it self-propelled?" I asked Pete.
"Oh arr," he replied "you push un yerself!"

He was joking, but then we discovered the clutch was stuffed, so it wasn't quite so funny then. :(

The two chooks who were poorly decided to perch at bedtime tonight; the first time for about ten days, so they think they're back to normal. Although they will be carriers of the disease which struck them and may have health weaknesses, as I understand it, they'll not necessarily be contagious. Meanwhile, our friend who bought fertile eggs at the same place, wonders what will happen when they hatch......

Toadflax (possibly) for the first one, and the second is surely some kind of Yucca. :)

If they are not a member of the bee group Ras mentioned, it might be worth them joining, even if it is for legal advice etc or ideas on how to deal with neighbours etc..

How long have they had bees?

Oh about 25 years - an old codger threw in the towel gave her the hive and his kit. It was pre-varroa.

Mind you the copper bits of the kit have had to be replaced with stainless steel.
Just think we must have been poisoning ourselves for years.

I should imagine then if they have had the bees that long your neighbour wouldnt have a cat's chance in hell...

I flipping hate neighbours...... they shouldnt be allowed:rotfl:

glad your hens ae looking and feeling better...

We have realised since last night we are going to have to slowly start keeping the cat in again, as once all this construction work starts, and then the unpteen hundreds of cars passing near our houses, the cat could get run over and killed...I know she will be a nightmare, but i rather her being a pain in the butt, than not here at all...

It really piddled down last night....so at least i havent got to water my beans....lol....

Rhiwfield.... hope you are on the mend with your back..... was just wondering if i get my mitts on a load of old pallets would you want some? as we got vans I could quite easily go out for a jolly up your way, and drop them off... We are going to start scouting round for wood ready for the winter, we have some stored, but going by last winter,,, we are going to see if we can really stock pile pallets/wood, even if i got to make room in work for it:D

    I've been Money Tipped!
I love hollyhocks. They are so carefree. In the village someone has one of the most beautiful pale coral not quite peach one. I'm working up the corage to ask if I could have some seeds. Then if one came true I'd be happy.

my original seeds came from an old boy selling little packets for charity. [from his plants] the 2nd year they bloomed and made between 8-10 ft high !! they were blood red, burgundy and pinks... the following year NO red ones ? the following year ...NO red ones...? this year REDS are back...yey !! so the seeds from the reds have self sown, waited a year then produced flowers... the original plants are now old and non producing but all the seeds have scattered around so i just let them come up where they want to !!

    LIR... looking forward to friday...
