Yeah but you live in Sunny Devon, I live next to a stream at the bottom of a valley, that seems to collect coldness. :D

And it's bloody windy here as well..... that's it, no more moaning now, LOL.

It's only a 3rd hand IBC container, cost £20, bargain. You can pick them up cheaply if you look. It's connected to the GH guttering and is located behind the GH, where I have a hose permanently attached to it and fixed to the floor, just the right length to water the GH. But not too long so I can damage plants by being reckless with it.
It works really well. Just one of the many Heath Robinson designs I have around, to make my life easier :D

Hope your doves appear back Alfie.

I'm shocked at how dry stuff is & plants that went thru the winter in pots - I've let dry out & killed em. I feel ashamed.

Well, we finally replaced the old land rover, with a less old, less big LR. I will get a lorry instead of a trailer when we can afford it. we can pick it up net week and then we'll give it a run done to Alfie's to get the feel of it. Less fancy than some DH was contemplating, but it fits the bill I think.

Don't be ashamed. I managed to kill a couple of bottle-brush bushes by keeping them dry for protection, though I guess they might yet bounce back. My euonymous, which were just sad looking sticks, suddenly have new leaves, and the acca, which is a bit sub-tropical, is also leafing-up. :)

Don't consign anything to the dustbin too soon. ;)

Think my Judas Tree is gone though!

    Choille,

recently I planted a stick. It was green but it was a single stick and I was cnvinced a gonner. This week, suddenly, two shoots with leaves, and its gonna be a rose again. The Indian bean tree I thought was a gonner threw out leaves just this week....now our weather must be a lot milder then yours...so hang in there a bit with water and spring warmth.

The edgar allen poe tree had only one leaf, no blossom...the buds have been awfully quiet....I'll have a look later in the week and see how he is.

i lost my pot grown bottle brush but i have a very big one in the ground that is now in bud and doing great ??

i am lucky here, we get early flowering of most things. my roses are starting to open up and the "sticks" [from last years prune] that i stuck in are all doing well. most of my roses are either cut sticks or rescued... i couldnt believe it when i saw my passion flower wilting?? i tracked it back to source and found it clean cut through ?? this was one of my sticks i put in early last year and was doing really well...i think a rat/mouse may have chomped it? no other explanation !! iv put the cut off length as is into the fish pond as cuttings seem to root well in there?? when/if it has roots forming i will replant meanwhile hope the stump left re grows....so i may have 2 growing by the summer!
my dahlias are poking up now, all my flowering dont know whats what seeds are all growing well too....

i had a cycling family stop to look at mabel...i was there and they said they were down from london. 2 kids [about 7&8?] were just awe struck at the size of her and even the mum said she didnt know pigs grew that big! mind you i dont think the kids had seen a real pig ever by thier reaction....

Rummer - It's a bad fire about 4 miles down the road.
It's a hill side & quite a large area. I think they had a trouble getting it under control. We went for a nosy & it was pretty shocking but not at the trees which we first thought - sothat was a small blessing. We hear on the news there's another two - one at Torridon & one above Loch Ness I think.
There's so many walkers & campers & it's so dry - even a tossed cigarette end would do it as it's like tinder underfoot. Last year was bad for big fires & a wood nearish here got half burnt - that was sad & very nearly took out some people's cottages we know.
    Scary.
    Beautiful sunset this evening.
