wow ! not to make light of your fires but i had a flash to when we lit our choille fires for you and thought it was maybe a sort of choille fire to celebrate the return of THE chicken......

Hi All,
sorry i havent posted, its been totally manic with work with these 2 double bank holiday weekends..
Last weekend i managed to make a few bits for the smallholders show in 3 weeks:eek:, I got nothing ready, so i really will need to get things organised for that...this year we decided to have a stall in the eco horizons part of the show, promoting the business, and selling some bits and pieces..
here is my first attempt of making a handbag and make-up bags out of old welsh blankets, i used and old crepe skirt fabric for the lining, and a boys old belt for the strap
Havent got a clue how many i should make???? there is normally between 25-30 thousand through the gates...so if you have any suggestions on how many handbags and make-up bags i should make i would be very gratefull for any advice...( I have now made 4 handbags, out of diff coloured welsh blankets )
Yesturday i managed to transplant into bigger trays my lettuce and brussel sprout seedlings...:T
Think i have realised i got to much on my plate again this year with everything:o:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
CTC they look lovely especially the pink one at the bottom! Depending on their price I think they will sell really well and you should maybe make quite a few.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Although I don't do make-up, or have a handbag, I think they look fab! :j
I've no idea how many to make though. They won't go 'off,' like produce, so do as many as you can manage, but leave yourself a bit of 'me' time too.0 -

lol........your first comment did make me giggle a bit...
Y ou are right they wont go 'off' so will just carry on making them ..
I have been using re-claimed zips, but i havent got the time at mo, to un-pick them from old ripped clothes etc, so i ordered a 100 for £12.99 off fleabay with free postage, which is a bargin..
Rummer i was thinking between £4- £5 for the make-up type bags and about £18 for the slouch type bags...what do you think?
I am giving the 'me time' a bit of a miss, as i just keep on getting poo happening lately, and to top it all the landlord of the factory that we are in, has sent me the insurance for the building for this year, and its tripled in price:eek: its one of the conditions that we pay the buildings insurance..( i will not scare you with the price...lol..)
I just need to make money...to move.....
remember the old derilict cottage within an acre of land
it went to sealed bids.... and unfortunetely i wasnt hte highest bidder..... its only now gone to the stage where solicitors are involved.. and htere is a strict time scale.... if this falls through i was the next highest bid....but i expect it will be no hick-ups and it will sell....
the highest bidder put a bid in of 50k, but has since reduced it to 45k....i put a bid in of 22k and 5 pounds:D... the lowest bid was 7k
it was all a learning curve... and with the help of our Davesnave i have learned alot with this experience....so it wasnt totally a waste of time.... as i have learned some good valueble lessons...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Those prices seem reasonable CTC, it does depend how how much time it takes you to make them, don't sell yourself or your time short. As Dave says they will keep and you can sell them through a variety of channels varying the price to suit.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I am also selling the lower grade welsh blankets for repair or crafting, so i thought my makes will also inspire people to buy the low grade welsh blankets to do some crafting themselves
I am one of these people who, with some items sell them cheaper to get the 'cash' in quick, as then the cash can start earning me money by accruing interest ( not alot i know..lol..) rather than them sit in a box and not earning me money IYSWIM
as for my time making them.... at the moment i am injoying making them, so treating it as 'de-stressing' ...lol...but i think this time next week, they might be adding to my stress levels..:rotfl:
trying to think if there is anything 'garden themed' i could make with the blankets.....any ideas?
bought hubby a complete brewing kit off ebay today...I have been 'hinting' about how much we could save in the long run... and he is now keen to do his own brewing.... he did say it has totally changed since his father used to brew his own..... alot easier...
the first 40 pints will work out more expensive, but after this lot, its only the brewing stuff we will have to buy...Work to live= not live to work0 -
How about a sort of waist pouch/bum bag style thing that people could put seeds/twine in when working round the garden?

CTC... if i saw the make up bags for £4-5 at one of our shows ...id snap em up!! for handmade iv always said to myself what is my lowest i want ie£4 then add 50% =£6 . this allows to give a discount on 2,3 bought ie... one for£6 ,two for £11, three for £15. everyone is then encouraged to buy more than one and they appreciate getting money off ,although you cant lose cos you get what you want out of it....
i will order three make up bags off you now please... also what about aga pot holders ..approx 8"x8" flat, slight padding with a loop in the corner, with one of your flowers on by the loop. i will order two please....0 -
They would make lovely place mats too!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
