Yes - it has been almost too warm today but getting cold again, could be frost tonight/early morning.

We do seem to have had a sneaky wind most days, but it has been dry - no water coming out of tap today.

Well, having much the same weather as you, and wondering where all my gate sale customers are.....Now I know! :rotfl:

The road has been very quiet the last few days. It's never manic, but I reckon only one vehicle every 5 minutes, at most. I miss it when the buses don't run, as I know what time it is by them.

Just been brushcutting for England again. :( We must get a petrol mower for the larger areas of grass, as I think we have finally cleared almost all the stones and debris from under our 'lawns.' Mind you, I thought all the baler twine had gone too, but no, twisted up on two more of those today.

Our friend in the village brought us another hedgehog this morning; at least we think it's another one. A month ago she brought us one that had become entangled in her rabbit netting, and today's had met the same fate. However, hedgehogs can 'home' up to 2 miles.....This time we released the hedgehog, it was marked with a white spot! ;)

Yeah sorry I am the gate sales customer thief ;)

Sounds like you have been having fun ..........well err...sort of, we have a wonderful petrol here, DH tells me it cuts a treat.

Hows the hog? we keep pygmy hedgehogs here which are rather sweet, I very rarely see wild ones anymore

Think we have finally finished the stuff we had to do to satisfy the contract when we bought this place. Exhausted now. Need the rest of summer to lie down and recover.

Found myself repairing a wall basket lining today, now there's frugality for you :o

Now dont anyone tell Lotus-eater but my outdoor toms and peppers were planted out today. Will cover them tomorrow night when it gets a bit chilly. GH toms now in final places and pots so let the season start!

The recent cucumber and butternut squash sowings were rubbish, but given that I used 2 different composts and also a heated propagator for half of them, suspicion falls on the seed, some of it 3 years old. In contrast Marketmore bought a few days ago is already germinating, as are Black Beauty courgettes from the dig in packets last year.

Lots of rain this weekend :D

I hope you're right about the rain, but not till after the Street Party. Apparently, there aren't as many Street Parties as those who expect these things expected, but we shall have one in the village. I don't think people here are raving royalists or anything, but it's a matter of pride, and if the little town nearby is having one, then we must have one too. ;)

Our GH toms have been in place for weeks, first in the conservatory and then in the tunnel, which has no doors. We've been close to zero a few times, but fleece copes with that. Our fast-track plants are about 50-60 cm now, and with a bit of luck they'll be forming fruit by the end of the week. Either that, or lotus will be right and they'll be what choille would call call "deid." :rotfl:

I'm really pleased with the germination on my own cucumber seed, especially as Real Seeds say 'Tamra' is tricky. I'm only growing that this year as I want to bulk up the seed supply in case they withdraw it.:) Unlike last year, virtually all the courgettes have come up, so I hope someone buys a few plants.

We've been to Bournemouth & back with DD2 today + 2 supermarket visits en route, so I'm feeling bit ragged at the edges tonight. :(

    T'is cold now.
Have a cross bred Shetland X Blackface with a horn stub off. The blood has all clotted but wanted to catch her & paint something on for fly, but can't. Will try again in the morning. That's the thing with these crosses is the wimpy, weird, useless horn bud things that are a liability.
Brought them all back off the apportionment & inby.
My back is sore with bracken pulling - it's rather addictive.

    What did I say then, I can't remember :D

I'll let you into a secret, I have a courgette outside, been out for over a week. :p I haven't bothered covering it up once yet.

I do keep expecting a cold snap to come along, still a while for it to happen. But it may not.

It's all about experimentation, but just to let you know, I did try very early stuff last year outside and it wasn't a great success. It was better to sow them early still, but be able to bring them in when the weather got bad, which looking at my blog, it did get mid April.
I tried toms and courgettes outside early, neither worked particularly well and were overtaken by sown at the same time, but placed outside a couple of weeks later plants.

I must admit, I wouldn't put peppers out yet, not in the least because they grow so slow and they need hight temps to grow. So keeping them in a pot for 3 or 4 more weeks, makes a whole lot of sense.

I haven't put my GH toms out yet either, I'll see what the weather looks like in a weeks time.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

Hmm....I hope I can leave stuff out by next monday. Bringing things in and out is getting a bit tiresome now (oh for a greenhouse!) I need to pot on the tomatoes which have made it but it will be much harder to bring them in and out. So I'm hoping to pot them on at the weekend and leave them out fro after the bank holiday.

Still no rain here btw, hopefull for the rain forecast on friday....shame its a day we'd otherwise work outside, but better than no rain at this stage. Its cold here this morning though. Funny, eight weeks ago I would have been raving about how warm it was with these temps!

Alfie, have you got growers pellets in for the weekend ;) These chicks are greedy as well as half wild.

Someone is coming to look at the LR this week,:)

Go somewhere, but not too far.

How big are you big chickens? Are they friendly? Mine have been out, before you saw them, with the biggies here, and were fine. Maybe keep them by themselves until night fall and then stick them in and see how it goes. They are fairly good, a bit feral, but not aggro.

re feet....my guess is it COULD BE laminitis, despite what the professionals thnk, maybe low grade laminitis.....which I think a lot more ponies have than get diagnosed. The ground IS unforgiving ATM :( Its been a killer spring....so much grass...now just as the top has been eated off here and we're worrying less we're predicted rain, great for the garden (and needed) but a killer for the horses....new lush growth. We have two livin on the yard now, with boots and pads.

we have the equine dentist coming tomorrow...which though needed is a bit annoying....once the old girls' teeth are more comfortable they'll probably put on more weight!
