We have had problems with people coming into the garden but I have planted a hedge to keep them out, it is taking a really long time to grow but will be worth it when it is done. Security in your home and garden is so important, last summer I was sitting in the back when a child appeared closely followed by his dad. I got a real fright and was reluctant to spend time out the back on my own. Not so much because of them but more because it made me realise how vulnerable I was. The logical part of me knows it is unlikely that anything will happen but I still got a fright!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

We have had problems with intruders and council workers coming on to land uninvited. We have the dog. The problem only happens with each person once.
The unnamed plants are geums in this sort of colour: http://www.whiteflowerfarm.com/29858-product.html a little softer perhaps though.just checked, definite softer, like this colour but more ''vintagey'' with a v. slight copper hint. Beautiful.

Hi all. Thanks for your understanding regarding my situation. I do actually feel better just for making the decision - now I just have to find out how to access the cash. I believe it is the right thing for me to do at this time.
Well, whilst I was typing this I heard the most almighty clatter. I thought it was my cat knocking stuff off a high shelf in the garage so went to investigate. Nothing out of place in there and she was lying peacefully on the workbench. So I went to explore outside. I went out into the back garden!!! EEK!!
I do believe my neighbour has been round as it doesn't look as overgrown as I thought it would. I actually feel quite brave now and may even venture out there tomorrow night when I get home from work. I have 2 empty wheelie bins just begging to be filled!
I may only need to pay someone to do the bricks and fencing!
Who knows what the future holds hey?

Is this more like it? Very popular with British nurseries.

I have a sophisticated, cream one, the name of which escapes me, but it's a good doer, though the flowers are drooping, not out-facing. I think it's a species rather than a cultivar.0 -
Started clearing the ground inside the polytunnel so it's ready for planting. Sitting on an old childs school chair (the ones with metal legs and plastic seat) is for me the easiest way of getting the loose vegetation up.
I can't kneel as my knees won't let me, and my back won't let me do too much bending. This is perfect because I can just lean forward while sitting and it doesn't play my back up as much. Probably looks very strange, but still.0 -
I didn't realise security was the issue with your garden, Poo. That's a bit different from the 'inconvenience' of having a load of weeds to deal with. From what you've said, an electric fence wouldn't be out of place; one connected to the mains, that is!
We don't have issues keeping people out, fortunately, but I lock up the major bits of equipment. When we moved in here, it looked like the previous owners didn't lock up the house, as some doors and windows didn't close.
The police crime map for my area details 5 incidents in February, all of them anti-social behaviour, and 4 of them in the same road. (house?) That's still above normal for around here.0 -

I'm jealous! You got the perfect day for covering the tunnel today and I have the sunburn to prove it! Sadly, ours is nowhere near ready to put up yet, nor will it be, until I can get away from other jobs.
Everything is bursting into life around us now, and suddenly, there seem to be far too many plates to keep spinning. On one level I love it, but on another, I wonder if we can hold it all together. Like you, I'm not as supple as I was, or as strong, but then I think, "Dad was still riding his push bike at 89....."
Dad used to do an exercise routine every day when he was in his 80s. Me, I'm exempt; I bought a smallholding! :rotfl:0 -

Yes, it is! No, if that compony are selling it I've been told wrong about full sun planting have I? It can take shade? Its in am east border thatgets midday sun too now, but if it can take shade things could change in the future.....0 -

I have two tyres on on top of each other. They are comfy, and roll on days I can't carry them, but they make better recliners. The cats like to disappear down ''the hole'' and then head butt my bottom.:o0
