In practice its a bit of an awkward amount..speaking for experience, if you use it all yourself. Its too big to manage well by hand...you need contractors. Its too small for farming contractors to want to do at key times, its to big for the sort of people that manage pony paddocks.
I looked at something with a campsite and the profit scope in a key area was staggaring, I was amazed looking at the books...and theor off book activity was even more astounding. Its some setting up costs, but good return on them, a really good return. I'd possibly consider it. Possibly.
You could let some to pony people for another good return, or do something such as davenave suggests. If you can get someone to small bale it you could even sell the hay on the net. (if you have a barn for storage). You might find, if its good hay on analysis, someone would drive from somewhere else in the country to collect it. (you can reserve t for them and get them to analyse to save expenditure)
what plan for the pigs and cattle? Beef and pork? H close are you to the abbatoir? Will your DH take them in himself? Its a tough drive that last one!:o:( And requires, of course, a suitable trailer or lorry and as well as the tie of them, you have to think about meeting other defra and planning properties...where will their slurry go, for example?I've been dealing with slurry a LOT in the last nine months or whatever. The local council have now said they want me to stop doing what I was contracted to do and do another more expensive job instead....not on my land :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: . They know we can't rock tomany boats worth planning and associated ''logistics'' running through the same departments and people. The only good thing about it is I might be able to give the rotters back some of the rubble they dumped here.
I shall throw it in the hole with BIG joy if so.

Yup, 7th May 11 - 2pm.
I was going to PM you about that, but it's hardly a state secret, and I can delete this later.0 -
CTC - I'm not 'normal' by any bodies reckoning, but we aren't violent & con merchants. As I'm sure you're not either - weird - well aye, but not nasty!COOLTRIKERCHICK wrote: »def not violent. ok i might be a bit gobby on times...lol.... and def not a con-merchant...
I'm sure I could live next to any of you, and you could all be as weird as you like, as long as it wasn't noisy. Unfortunately, my peaceful, windless evening here has been ruined by Mr Dog's pair of mongrels, kicking off and drowning out the birdsong more or less completely.:mad::mad: No doubt if you stay inside and turn up Sky Sport loud enough, you can be like him and not be bothered, but the very nature of our lives here is about being outside.
Looking back over my records, it's been on 25 days out of the last 120 that the dogs have caused us enough annoyance to write it down. That's 1/5 of the time and we aren't into long evenings yet. Only this morning we were talking about Phase 2 here, where we put some serious money into altering the house, but at the moment I don't feel committed enough to do that....:(0 -
I was in the supermarket today and it was over £3 for a few stems of rhubarb . How glad am I that we are growing our ownTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Aye - Dog barking is wearing on the nerves & completely unnecessary. Someone down the road dogs bark when she's there. They go outside & bark incessently - they have really high pitched barks. They are a good distance away but it travels. The woman who lives down from them is in her 90's & must be driven nuts by it. Neighbour lets his dog in & out & it barks to get back in but they go away & leave it most days & doesn't make a nosie unless they are there - again.
I think you can phone up the dog warden if it's bad - maybe you have that there?
Spent a while sawing up limbs with a bushman this afternoon - lovely day, but came quite chilly later on but was amazed to realise that it was nearly 7.30pm before it was getting dark - how it leaps out in March. At least the strong winds have subsided, that was stressful. It is the worst in the caravan - strong gales - that & hail.
Wish I could come up with a solution to get cash in & house done. Even thinking about a loan but dismissing it again as work is sporadic & we hear interest rates are on the rise. Even mulling about hiving off a piece of ground & getting PP & selling as a plot but don't really want to do that - have anyone too close by.0 -
Rummer - Rhubarb used to be very cloth cap, it's very posh & trendy now. I love it. I would never buy it. It freezes well & if you're making wine, if you freeze it it breaks down the fibres - makes it easier to make.0

Choille, they don't sick up, they use saliva to clean themselves, it's more a case of spit up!So not really any worse than cats washing themselves.
Hi all, I'm catching up again but I read this and thought, how many times have I been stroking my Poo thinking, "If I could bottle what she uses to clean herself, I'd make a fortune!"
I mean for use as hair shampoo. Poo's hair is just like fur, it's so soft and silky, absolutely beautiful. Must be the enzymes in the saliva and I bet the shampoo producers have looked into most animal grooming enzymes already anyway. So next time you wash your hair, read the label of the shampoo and replace some of those long worded ingredients with cat saliva. lol

evening all....:)
i have just emerged from a comatose state on my sofa !!:D
i left 10pm last nite, got to within half hour of my destination [5hrs driving],very peacefull on the M1. pulled into the truck park, noticing the perfect space i parked up, to get a cuppa and a kip, had bright lights beaming in and noticed all the "grown up "trucks had curtains to block this.. so i rigged up a scarf, jacket etc to try and dim the light down...sort of worked !! i got my hot water bottle filled by tea man much to the hillarity of the big macho truckers...:o, settled down across front seats and sort of got some sleep !! i woke at 6pm fully understanding WHY that space was free!! i was met as i poked my head up by what can only be described as a torrent of traffic hammering past...
anyway i set off after a quick clean up and toof brushing.. found the place easy at 7am. the wagon was better than the photos, very good looking and condition. about 5 men of varying ages and sizes emerged from ? to load it, took the wheels off and it had about 5cm clearance...tight....but did it, had great bacon sarnie and set off again by 9am. the M1 was an experience !!
i got back home to my friend at 3 ish, did stop for a drink and cake...:)
unloaded it , set it up again and i literally crawled home and fell on the sofa, i was unconcious i think !!
i then had a phone call to say my cat had been hit on the road today and that someone had got rspca out to look for it ?? its my old cat 18ish who is not well and i was considering the "end" was nigh anyway ,poor old man. i couldnt find him anywhere so left it till daylight, only to open my door this evening to be met by old cat and other cat [they normally dont fratanise] sat on the mat...:) i do think that cat2 actually was "looking after" cat 1:T
he has a nasty wound on his leg but has settled on sofa so am going to sort it in the morning as dont want him stressed more tonight.
my son had my van today as his car still in garage, i dropped him off at 8 tonight to pick it up so have my van back ...
have to pick up my jack R tomorow too...
i feel that my brain is just stoned...iv gone beyond tired now..:(
i will not be doing a journey like that in a hurry anytime soon :rotfl:
i just have to accept i am no spring chicken and what was once easy is now bl**dy hard:rotfl:
p.s. i forgot to take my camera:mad: but will get some pics when im back in the land of the living.0 -

Hello all again. Well you all lead such busy lives - so much for getting out of the rat race! Sounds like the rat race is a much more sedate pace!! lol
Rozeepozee, good to hear from you again, good luck with your quest to find your very own kingdom. I bet the twins are a right handfull!
CTC, I'd have loved you to live next door to me (I think). I used to have 2 cars on my frontage plus the one I was driving. Unfortunately the !!!!!! came and stole my Sierra a couple of years ago - the Police were useless! I swear if they ever come back for my beloved Metro I will not stop till I've been to every scrapyard around and found my car. I won't be getting the Police involved again but the scrapyard who takes in my stolen car might!
I used to own 3 motorbikes at one time, my little Honda CG125 what I learned to ride on. Then I bought a Kawasaki GPZ500s which i used in the summer and used the 125cc in the winter. Then I had an idea to get a Yamaha 250cc (can't remember what model that was) but I never even rode the Yamaha, it was very old and very heavy - it was made of real metal! lol I had to sell all three when an ex got me into serious debt :-(.
I still haven't been out in the garden yet! But I do have some spuds growing in a bucket! YAY! I wonder if anyone could tell me when I have to start putting more dirt around them? The greenery out the top is about 2.5-3 inches tall now. Should I put more soil in now? And how much do I put in?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
