It would be like living next to myself!

Yeah? Well that would be nice too. You always cheer me up :)

Looks like I'm not going to have any eggs or anything to sell at the first event held here (annoying but not totally unexpected). Blighters gave me THREE this morning. I ask you...does that sound like a fair return? Farm spplies own no frills layers pellets have gone up to around eight and a half pounds too. :( Only thing I can think is that it makes the barrier between those and the lux brands smaller....maybe time to go organic with chook food. Apart of course, from the fact the farm supplies don't sell that in the big backs, but rather for mini bags for the two chook keeper (even with two or three surely those little bags are really bad value?). I'll check in at mole valley next time I pass.

    Doesn't sound good Choille. :(

I've stuck the pot over the dandelions. I will wait with baited breath. :)

I've got three strawberries budding, seems amazingly early. Also the first tulip in the white border opened.....and its ruddy yellow...a nice acidy cream, but still not white :(:( Grrrrrrrr. The white violets look incredible today! My paul's himalayan musk must have grown two inches last week. He looks very smug! Lupins bursting through now, dicentra unfurling.....wall flowers THINKING about buds in places.

Best rid of that! I shared a friend's Reliant 'Trotter' van at college, and apart from the general awfulness,( things like wondering where to find a gear, any gear!) it was left hand drive as well.
We frequently got it on two wheels, so it was a blessing when it's engine finally blew up, due to my friend not realising he had to put oil in it.:o

We sold our Transit, fearing it wouldn't be reliable enough to do the trips down here. By the following week, my garage-owning friend had connected it to a spec-lift, put fancy hub caps on it, had a couple of signs made and was using it as his breakdown truck! :rotfl:

Lir, I have a white viola that spreads like wildfire. It flowers much later than violets, and only for a few weeks, but we used to shift dozens of them when in bloom.

lol.. Davesnave.... when we bought the plastic pig, hubby had to drive it home,,, and he hated it.... especially as that day all his mates must have seen him driving it...:rotfl: it was ment to be turned into a trike...

Well all the scrap cars etc have gone....

where the 2 cars were embedded in overgrowth infront of hte house... i have cleared all the brambles etc... and hte soil underneath is fantastic:rotfl:flip i am thinking of putting a little wall or border and plant some flowers or veg....

today one of hte other neighbours had a dog kennel/shed outside ready for the council to pick up, they did ask if we wanted it, so we phoned a friend who has fantastic R.I.R chickens... so they had it, while they were here, they didnt realise the situation we are in, and htey said a fantastic saying.... 'Its allways the darkest before the dawn' which basically things cant get much more darker for us, before things start getting brighter/better...

wanting to go to homebase again today to get a new front gate... might even look at some htings to make a border:D:rotfl:

Hi rozee, glad to hear the move is still on the cards.

12 acres is a lot of grass, and if it's excellent, then that's about 50 sheep you could comfortably overwinter on it, and maybe 45 big bales of hay later on....BUT, don't forget that the fences have to be in good nick and someone has to cut & turn the hay before the contractor comes in to bale it, all reducing your profit. Then there's the other inputs, like fertilizer....

Fortunately, in Wales, it's very common for folk to rent their surplus land to local farmers, like I do here with Pete. It's up to the parties concerned whether payment is in money or in kind. I'm afraid it won't be a lot, either way, but I've seen land managed really well on this basis in Wales.

Campsites are best kept compact, or at least the parts which have services and mown grass are. You can spread the rougher tent-pitching bits out, as some people prefer things 'au naturelle.'
Thanks Dave. I need to see 12 acres. I don't have any idea what that means. I've seen campsites on 0.2 acres, so i realise that 12 is a lot more! We were only thinking of a 5 pitch CCC type thing. I fancy goats (only a efw) and my OH has got it in his head that he wants a few cows and pigs, but to be honest, I am also a bit worried about how tying livestock will be.
hi all.... Alfie hope you are ok with your journey....

Rozeepozee...I think it is a good idea that you rent a place, and then look round to buy something...places might look so lovely when you are doing a day trip there, but if you bought a place based on what you seen on that day, it might be a mistake, no matter how beautiful a place/area may look, you may not 'feel' at home there.. IYSWIM...

    :D
Yes, we will rent. I think we may do so for a year, or maybe even two!

Oh.... I'd love to chat for longer but it's bedtime and those pesky twins are crying and want their mum (and boob!)
