I feel a bit guilty as I have done nothing in the garden today and I haven't even planted up seeds indoors either!

Rember the old fallen down house i posted a while back, well i put an offer in, and after the owners being a pain in the butt, they have now decided to have sealed bids on it...so near but yet so far... I just dont know what to do now, as there is no guild line price.. If i bid, it will be prob either to low or to high:rotfl:

CTC - That is quite a common system in Scotland but it's usually offers over & then they put on a closing date.

Things you have to ask yourself & have a snoop on the net & also talk with your local Planning officer at the council - How much land? Does it flood? Are services to hand? If not, how much to get them on site - affects the price. Will it get planning? Is it listed? If listed what does that entail? - That can be a mill stone.
To rebuild is more expensive than to start from scratch.
You should look at similar plots & their price locally on the market to get an idea of what is a sensible price.

All the best - goodness how exciting, but also stressful.

Definately speak to planning if you have not done so already. Also check the risk of flooding?

Glad to hear you sounding fighting fit again, alfie. It made me tired just reading about your day. Well done for braving town in your work clothes too. I'd like to, but fear I might be picked up for either vagrancy or indecent exposure, the state my old things are in nowadays. ;)

It finally rained here, but it was getting dark by then. :p We've been dashing around, preparing for the digger visit tomorrow, when a lot of stumps will be pulled out and some bushes/small trees moved to new locations. With luck, he'll also pull a trench out for a new hedge. :)

I've taken cuttings of some fruit bushes in case they prove too hard to relocate, and I did that last year too, so there's a reasonable stock of small plants ready to make a fruit garden. The new fruit place is still grass at the moment though, hence all the potted stuff.
My larger order of chilli/sweet pepper seeds arrived from Nicky's Nursery yesterday, so they've been sown. The first of those I did a week ago are just poking through, thanks to the Aga assisting the propagator.

I've had some strong assurances re my photos over on Photobucket, so I won't be locking them after all. That's good. Yes, I know, no new ones for about two months, but it's not been very exciting here recently.... :o

    hi CTC...
you will need to check that you would be able to rebuild AT ALL... sometimes if a property has been derelict for over a specified time then its classed as ruin and cant be "restored". also re power [as pre ?end] take it from me it can be a pain in the rear if you dont do your homework 1st [ie...me!!] it looks an amazing place tho and well worth looking into. i thought the agents selling HAVE to give a guide price. see if it has been on the market before and gaige what the market increase might be ??
people thought i was mad taking this house on but it is rather nice going back to basics...makes you appreciate what is natural around you as opposed to high tec... good luck
