Did anyone pick up on this story

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2011/feb/06/solar-farms-threaten-green-subsidy?INTCMP=SRCH

    Rather worrying at first glance.

I heard the Minister, or someone, talking about this on the radio a week or so ago. It makes you wonder if the guys who set up these schemes have any predictive ability whatever. Who did they think had oodles of cash sloshing around and, in the absence of good returns elsewhere, were looking for something with a great rate of return?

35 acres of PV....that'll look nice from the White Horse......:(

Spent half the afternoon [STRIKE]catching[/STRIKE] trying to catch sheep. All my mobile mowers have gone off-site to have their lambs. Me, I've just gone off sheep! :rotfl:

For wind power, the bigger the better. If the radius doubles the out increases by a factor of 4.

Roof top turbines are too close to areas of turbulence and therefore even less effective that might be expected and at sizes that are worth having, they would shake many houses apart.

To be clear...they are talking in this case about the top of the Honda car plant, not houses! Tall turbines, its think they are saying, might impact on Brize Norton...

Anyone interested in a Community Scheme, this lot are desparate for funds http://www.h2ope.org.uk/ to get the scheme going before the funding ends.

But note that beyond the dividend, profits are given to community projects.

    Thanks

That makes more sense, as long as the siting is good.

We have both solar and wind at work and the wind is frankly useless and needs taking down.

It could be a different week from yesterday. Yesterdays dazzling bright colours and heat feel like a drea from compared to today's grey, damp promise. Yesterday I was thining about fencing up the next paddocks, to day I'm wondering how much damage the rain will create to the grass.

Oh well. I darted out and swept some pathways. Next dry weather will see me start sifting some soil that is in a big pile, to start filling the bed marked out. Not going to bother serious reseed of the big lawn for now, might scatter some and put the gardeneye balloon out there, but thought I might get the electric netting around the smaller lawn and strip the existing rough turf off and reseed, and mark out some beds......second fiddle to the veg garden now though....but the better the grass the less mud will get tracked into the house, which means less time cleaning which means more time outside!

Hmm is it all too good to be true? Orchids outside, conservatory plants outside, all enjoying the warm rain, while seeds pop up everywhere? (Congratulations, Rummer:)

Off to do supermarket dash, if we're not bankrupt. It's cost over a grand to get the van road legal and serviced for another year. :(

Sun out today - feel my self squinting, so unaccustomed to the light.

Heard a strange noise - pop, pop, pop, pop. T'is the broom seed heads popping. I'm amazed. Torrnetial rain yesterday whilst we were away & the burn is a raging torrent & water everywhere.
