hiya. i feel like im a "sailer" today... i have squished my way across the field to put hay in the field shelter only to be met by a "river" flowing across in front of it !! all the minis were looking at me as if they wanted to be carried across...!!:rotfl:
where is all this water coming from??:( it hasnt rained that much here ?? in the next paddock is a lake, youde think it would find its way to the lower ground into it !!
i have dug mini ditches across to the ditch to try and drain it away from thier shelter... mind you they all got across it when the hay was put in !!:)

Well if it make you feel any better, we've lost a whole load of stored squashes, that were in the back porch. I think about 75% of what we had left (which was a lot).

Our squashes were mostly in the conservatory, so they're OK, but a couple that were in the barn went mushy, so I sliced them in half and the hens polished them off.

I think the dahlias would've made it in our converted pig sty cold frames. The salvias in those still have leaves, and so do some of the agapanthus.

Well it's BBBBbbbaltic again. Totally freezing. Got caught in a blizzaed today with OH as we were retreiving old fence posts across the road & barrowing them back to cut into firewood. It feels colder than last freeze as the wind is a bit stiff - cuts the face off you. Wish I knew where my head sock is packed.

Trying to turbo list and am so slow & taking an age. I'm a Luddite at heart.

Bitter again here today! Not much to report on the gardening front as I have been just getting back into the swing of work! Going to spend quite a bot of time planning at the weekend.

We're forecast snow but the horses are all warm enough in lightweights....an its meant to hit 11 degrees c tomorrow. Its crazy the changes in short time frames are impossible to keep up with.

Today ended up being so grey and grim it was a two bath day. An indulgence I know but it has worked...the one earlier got me ready for round two...the house...and this evenings was so wonderful I drifted off for twenty minutes. If it weren't for the dogs I'd be tucked up in bed already....I got the christmas wreath down but just couldn't face getting rid of the indoor stuff.

choille you dear thing, sorry its cold....6 days till The Return

Dry today but it looks as if those to the south got soaked and those in Scotland deep frozen.

Reintroduced the blue into the coop after 5 days separation, it was like the blitzkreig with normal pecking order restored in a matter of minutes. Not solved :(

Have been researching the air source heat pumps and had the first system quote. But until RHI is announced, its not possible to work out if its a good idea and, unlike ground source and water source, they currently need planning/lawful development approval though permitted development status is likely to be introduced this year, subject to a noise limit. But had a good chat with local Environmental Health and think positioning should be fine. Installing one would mean losing the low section of the woodstore, no real harm as I want to extend it elswhere to take more unseasoned (and cheaper) wood.

BTW, off topic, permission to scream?

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHH!!

Bet not - it is bloody cold out there.

Any chance of you getting to look after your neighbours again and get a shower there?
