    Hi Steel
Im planning on looking at the mortgage lifter for next season-it was to late to get it for this one -and heck knows where I would have put it :rotfl:
I think next year if I want more varieties (which I do :p) I will just have to grow 1 of each -I have 2 of each 21 varieties this year ... but Im going to be keeping track and if there are any that don't crop well or taste great I will miss them out next time.....
Hubby reckons I should set up a tomato garden :D...I think I could be quite happy just growing tomatoes, beans and peas -I really want to be able to say I have had a "glut of peas" - I think it was your blog I read that you had got a glut last year..."HOW?"...I could never have too many peas... mine don't normally make it into the house -gardeners perks and all that ;)..

Well I have been out this morning and put the rest of the peppers and the aubergines in the cold frame and given everything a good drink in there-hopefully when it warms up later it will get nice n humid for them ......Im sure the peppers I put in there the other day look much healthier and all those tomatoes I set out yesterday are now standing back up nice n happy :T
Hope everyone gets a nice warm day.... Im sad to say that I have nothing to do out there at the moment ..unless I can think something up, as everything that wants to go out has gone and the lawn was done on friday..so everything is sorted for now ..I WILL think of something to do :rotfl:

    Morning all

Well the sun is shining and it looks like I may just get some washing out before everyone else gets up today lol. Hubby repositioned the shed yesterday so I am hoping that he gets the rest of the seeds potted that need done today!

My barrels are looking lovely and damp although i have no idea where to put them. I know I want one next to the front door with some nice flowers in them for the kids to tend. And one next to the back door with a selection of herbs in (I have loads of seeds for herbs so just going to see if I can get them to grow in the barrel).

The other two ... mmm not sure but I will find a use for them!

I was thinking of copying you Dave! We have a lovely little bay tree that cost us £20 and I was thinking next year of taking some cuttings and selling them, as well as tomato plants and herbs. I buy soo many seeds every year I have loads extra, so I may as well make some money.

We were thinking of doing that next year and doing a car boot sale to make some money for our fund. This year I'm concentrating on making some cash through my writing and stuff.

Happy sunday to you all, xx

Forgot to add, does anyone else do what I do? I feed all my plants on tea!!! Hubby drinks nothing else so i use a lot of tea bags and before they go into the compost I make up a load of tea (enough to fill the watering can a couple of times) and let it go cold then use it to feed all the plants (including my money plant and cactii!)

They seem to like it, my original money plant died as hubby left it in my mam's garden when it was really cold but she gave me her one (it was my nan's) and it seems to be thriving on my kitchen windowsill living on sunshine and tea!

    xx

Morning, finally a bright one for me here so I am looking forward to clearing things out the greenhouse and getting some new seedlings planted up! Bonsibabe my OH drinks loads of green tea and we often us it to feed our plants and they seem to love it!

I have woken up with a brighter attitude today, I am quite sure that m lack of gardening over the last few weeks is why I have been down, and I am ready to get stuck into all the many jobs that are waiting to be done.

Hope you all have a productive day!

Bob Flowerdew advises to save all of your cold tea and water from boiling/steaming vegetables, to water your veg with, full of nutrients apparently. After reading this I've saved all of our tea and cooking water for the last few years.
I only save the tea we make without milk, which is almost all of it, not sure about the stuff you make with milk tbh.

Thanks Rummer and Lotus-Eater. I only save the tea bags as we take them out before milk is added, then at the end of the day I make up a huge amount of tea and water all the plants, they seem to enjoy it.

Although I never thought of saving the water from cooking the veg, I will start doing that as well, thanks for the tip! X

    Afternoon all

oooohhhh Im going to be trying out that tip thankyou both -does that give me an excuse to drink more tea :p..I have now put a pot beside the kettle for used teabags ..and will make a strong brew up every night in the watering can and leve it to go cold and then top it up with water in the morning :D
Are there any veggies that seem to like it most? or just everything?
Rummer -glad you are feeling a little brighter :T....getting out in the garden makes things seem much better doesn't it ;)

My mum has a huge bay tree by her back window -they were going to trim it down..but found the blackbirds had nested in there and they now have 3 babies...so they are having to hold off....it is huge..

We have just had salad for lunch and used the first of my own leaves :jhow can something so simple taste soooo nice :p... some were quite peppery -so I need to get more of those done as hubby loves anything hot....

Well hubby has been really busy in the garden today building his raised bed, must take photos and put them on my blog (lol). My dad came round with some strawberry plants they got free with their new hanging baskets so they are about to get planted in one of the barrels!! And have messaged a guy on freecycle about some raspberry cuttings. I think i may have to get some more barrels!!!

Another full day at the allotment, and today we have acheived:
    • Hoed onion/garlic bed
    • Finished door and the netting on the fruitcage (which, at 4.5mX 3.5m, is as big as my livingroom!)
    • Planted leek seedlings
    • Planted beetroot seedlings donated by Mike on the next plot :D
    • Started digging the next four beds for the brassicas
I doubt we'll get the brassica beds done before DH goes into hospital on Thursday and he'll be out of action for a few months so the brassicas may end up on Freecycle

I have come home feeling things are progressing. :j
